Considering just how many Pz IVs Dragon Models have done over the years, this one is a surprising omission - until now, The ''Wirbelwind'' in 1/35th scale. CAD Images of this new announcement can be seen:

yes not much difference that i can see, except for the bold on armour, i brought the previous one, seems a bit silly to buy this one as well, might have to source out zimmerit for the previous version

I have to admit I am tempted by this one despite my wife telling me otherwise, and I suspect the price may deter me. In Jim's defence he has dealt with so many news stories it is easy to forget one, and I know I missed or forgot about the one you linked to Alan.

I wonder if I can now hope for the Ostwind kit 6550 they announced with the Wirbelwind kit 6540 will actually be delivered. Reviews have kept me away from the Trumpeter Ostwind.

i wonder if and when dragon will release either the bridge layer version, or just the plain Ausf A, instead of another version of one already out

Wasn't the previous model based on the H hull as this one is based on the G hull from the early production of it?

You and me both brother!
Though I thought 4-5times about getting a Trumpy Ostwind from HLj when they were throwing them out the door for about $20, those and the 'fatally flawed' T-62s that were going for about $16 ea!!
Passed on both and now wish I had not.
Tom Cockle over on ML keeps saying that the Ostwind is one the way. One of my fave vehicles from back in the ancient Monogram-Shep Paine Dio booklet days.
Waiting is..

As much as I like this, I'd actually be more interested in the field ambulance in the background *hint hint*

I did an Ostwind from Trumpeter recently, had to correct the hull because the one from the kit is not corresponding to any versions GHJ - just a mix of everything ;(
and of course this problem with undersizing upper hull - I decided to leave it like it is, just trained myself in making zimmerit and interesting camo from Nuts and Bolts book.
Looking forward to Dragons Ostwind since it will have a production turret, and not a prototype turret as Trumpeters.
For those who complains about Dragon - this new Wirbelwind features a different hull and this is important for people who want to make an accurate model according to reference pictures , and not just nicely painted "something like a WWII vehicle". The previosly avaible version of Wirbelwind was on late hull and there not that many reference pictures that have later hull without zimm, so you had to do a zimm or spend some xtra cash for cavalier zimm.

Well, for now this is the early G variant with the visibility clapper-blocks on the sides. No zimmerit ist needed there.
But why donīt they release instead of that one a late G with zimmerit ?

Given how well the Trumpeter version sold, I wouldn't hold your breath. It's an expensive niche product.

Wait for it ... Dragon or CH will come out soon with another Pz IV G, too, with the bolt-on armour. Their recent "Pz IV G Apr-May 1943 Production" only has the welded-on armour, if I recall?
