Thanks Adam,
First of all this is my first Building Diorama. I have made several AFVs, a Morser Carl diorama and 250/1 diorama. If you call them diorama.Why. Because there are lots of mistakes i have made. Everytime when i start a model i say i will not make same mistakes or mistakes while building. On this one i have two common mistakes. 1. The canal could be more higher maybe 1 cm more. 2. I am not satisfied with the walls. It would be better with plasters.
Rest mistakes are cosmetics.
Before i start, i decided to make a bridge diorama. ( I need to have experience at buildings, bridge, water ) anyway. What i want was a mediaval bridge, with watch tower, buildings... I search net and i found two bridges that i like. One was the bridge at Bayeux. I choose it. Because the one i need should has stairs.. Then i draw. After a while the area near bridge was blank. I think and draw nearly one week. At the end I place one of the buildings at Bayeux right near the bridge.... Now i feel that the drawing was full.
Then I found a place for diorama at home for which i will placed at the end.
Into the shelf. Which you can see diorama from only two sides. But when time goes on, the questions you ve asked me came to my mind. Why too much efford for a diorama that has only 2 views. Or if someone wants to look from other sides ???
To solve it i know that i must do the interiors.
Or not say maybe in future.

I understood Calvados as a brand of drink sorry.
Yes. Calvados, Bayeux
Yes, the name Calvados is , besides being a french region, also an alcool, not a brand by itself.
You can see a few brands here

You've gained another follower - I'm really impressed with the foam work too. Especially while juggling a 2 year old.

I chose to make the roof with wooden tiles. With a 0.1 mm balsa sheet. I draw the lines first and will do the same thing i did to foam. I am not satisfied but lets see when it is dried.
Next will be the eaves.

Looking good. I'm going to have a go with insualtion board myself at some point - much cheaper and easier to get hold ofthan balsa foam and basically the same stuff (extruded polystyrene). Thanks for this!

Thanks.
paint on walls and walls. Walls have different colors. I guess when i use gray or brown filter , colors will not be confusing. Thats my theory.

I filter walls with milky color oil. Next i will try to paint some contrast colors like blak or blak+brown. Only 10 on a side.
Any comments welcome.

Is this a door on the left side?
As this part is situated near the water, don't forget the moss and other humid weathering.

Yes Claude. Its a door. What i have planned is i need to make old hinges and above it i will do a rusted corrugated sheet ( if i can )
For the bottom of the building and the walls i need advices. I know that i will ones touch to the colors on them. For some contrast colors, filtering and weathering. Also humid weathering. But for the moss i dont have any idea.
I am following your thread and i know that you are using different plants' roots. I dont know how to find them. Those are true ones i guess because I dont want to the ones thats used for trees on train modeling.
PS : There is a stair on wall right side of the canal. the scale is wrong. ıts a mistake i guess what do you think ?

You mean the ladder on the first picture? It looks ok for me.
Moss!? No problem at all.
For very fine moss you use straight pigments. i often use MIG's Alied green for that. Other greens will do also (it's nature, don't be so exact)
Either applied dry or mixed with Ispropanol and then applied. The look will be different.
For moss with more volume you simply mix the pigments with any very fine medium you have.
This can be very fine saw dust, i also have dust from cork work. It also can be dust from Balsa wood ( you get that by sanding it)
Apply a bit of white glue and sprinkle the moss-mix over it.
I use a lot of roots but not in the moss. Where do you need roots?
Cheers
Claude

For moss, any fine with glue is a perfect idea. I will try it asap.
i am thinking to put a ivy without leaves. Just to take the monoton of walls. I mean maybe a little change will make more rich. That could wait a little.
Thanks Claude

Bridge walls and cobble stones are painted somehow, but still needs progress.
I have used some house and road elements from Miniart. Dont know where to place them. The street lamp at front of the house is a tram lamp, its maybe weird but its the best one i have. I need some comments and advices.

Volkan,
Very nice dio. Mig Productions makes some very nice street lights. Also, lookinto model railroad stuff. I think G gauge is around 1/32 scale. You may want to verify that though. as I'm not 100% sure. Sometimes I use alter model RR items in order to get them to 1/35 scale. Like I said, Mig has some nice light posts.

Hey Volkan
this is my first time viewing this, and I must say that is is well impressive...
The favourite part for me is the 'contained' scene section on the bridge and in front of the building wall. The lower level of the building and the distance down to the water adds a great backdrop.
One thing I would definitely change is the corrugated iron over the doorway. I would make it with smaller corrugations and have it running top top bottom (think like the rain; it has to run off the bottom end!) Have two pieces side by side with a lap and a half of corrugation tucked under the next sheet. Your rust looks great but remember that at the angle it is, there would be minimal rust, and mostly in the 'valleys' where the water would run constantly.
Some great elements here mate. Well done

Thanks Brad. I swear i did not think the way of the corrugated sheet. I should change its way. And will try to make the distance of each corrugate small.
I think i will do it when i start to rain pipes.
Thanks for your comments.

Hey Volkan. Nice dio you have going there. For moss with body to it I use tea. Just open a bag and crush it more, glue in place and paint. That will give you the depth for large areas. Small sapling roots are great for trees and root systems. If they don't fit the way I need them I add wire branchs to them. I usually add a stain to the root trees depending on the tree type. Best to zap the roots in a microwave to make sure you don't get unwanted bugs hatching in your house or on your dio latter. Spring is when I go root hunting by rivers and streams. The ground is very damp and pulling up the small saplings leaves most of the delicate small roots intact. Hope this helps you some.

Thanks Bob. I have tried to use little bit of tea at moss. Great shape or small leaves. Now i have teas ready with three colors.
