Hello All,
My new diorama named Wilderness. A village near Normandy. No effects of war. Takes place in France.

First the plan;

I choose four stages for building.
1. Base
2. Mediaval Bridge
3. Mediaval Building
4. Model or Figures

Used materials are styrofoam and glue for the beginning.
...

1. Base

2. Mediaval Bridge

3. Mediaval Building.

All comments welcome.

Hi

That's cool, another scratchbuilder.

Nice start so far! A bridge and stairs leading to the river is exactly what i am about to do, so i follow your progress very interested.

You started it great. I'll follow tis build. I always used a special kind of foam board to build dioramas but I think I will switch to this insulation stuff. It looks so simple to work with. Can You buy it in DIY shops too or just from specialized retailers?

I too didn't know you could get so much detail out of styrofoam. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Where do you get that styrofoam stuff?

I thought it might be balsafoam. I keep searching for it but it always seems to be out of stock. This may be a more accessible alternative.
Great work - this will be a dio to follow.

Hi,
Great start!! This is a rather large diorama, looking forward to see more.
May I ask why you named it “Wilderness"?

Wilderness because in this place the efects of was is none. No bomb. No ruins.
None touches of war.

I can say this part is really the worst part of my dio. Pasting is really annoying.
Anyway i should look in positive way, end is now much more closer.

If insulation foam is truly this workable, and is durable as well, then you're really encouraging me (and others) with this build Volkan. Can't wait to see more

I remember seeing instructions how to make these blinds, I think it may be in the Shep Paine book.

the windows are nearly finished. I will not use anything for glass. They will be wood sheets instead if glass.
Tried to write something on walls. Need to be faded.

Now i will explain a REAL WEATHERING method. NO ONE EVER SEEN.
On picture 4 there are two cars. Green is mine, blue is always my 2 year old sons.
He loves to play with cars on bridge. I put the build out. Then my sons half hour game begins. Go across the bridge. Blue always first. Then jump with can on canal and then put the car on bridge again. Let your fingers climb the stairs. This is the key point. We do it 50 times on half an our. I got big finger i cant but he can. And that way the stairs getting old. Theory : if this diorama takes 6 moths, imagine ....
Sometimes i got afraid that i will to the stairs again. but its worth to take my time with him with models. LOVE IT.

Nice try with the advertising but I think the artist had a bit to much Calvados.
You should have drawn some thin lines first to keep the letters straight.

What is the word "anquina" for? I don't know such a brand or french word.

Let's see how you weather the ads!

Cheers

Thanks Claude,
"Anquina"is also an Calvados efect. Now i look to the net and see that its wrong. I will be Anguilla.

My idea was to fade the bigger one as much as i can. The word i would impress more is "Epicerie" one. And maybe i put one more thin layer on one side. Dont know.

Thanks

Are you sure about that? I did not find anything on Anguilla being a Calvados brand!
Do you have a link?
Anyway, it is wrong already , so it will not make a lot of difference. Are you going to change ?

I understood Calvados as a brand of drink sorry.
Yes. Calvados, Bayeux

Anguilla is a type of fish. Freshwater.
European Eel/Anguilla Anguilla
Anguilla "it"/Anguille "fr"/Anguila Comun "es"/Χέλι "gr"
Dont know the French word.
( I have poor knowledge of fish words. )

BUT as you say its wrong and does not make difference. I will change it or remove it.

Thanks

hello vayhan, beautiful diorama. Think big, act bold. You definitely raise the bar for us all with this one. I adore the handwritten signs.

Question about general compostion/design. What does the rear of the mill / house / tall building look like? is the diorama meant to be viewed from 4 sides or just 1 or 2 ? If all four will you do an interiors?

I am curious as this is something I see often and I wonder why do so much work in 3 dimensions if there are specific veiwing angles for the audience? (by that I mean if the back of building is blanked off, then its not by design a veiwing angle for the audience.

Looking forward to the water. looking forward to seeing the weathering of the stones inside the canal.

Great work.

Adam
