I signed up for the Art of the Battlefield (artillery) campaign to build a captured M3 which then got me thinking.....................
Captured equipment is something that has always taken place on the battlefields so....
Any Armour or soft-skinned vehicle captured and operated against its former owners...
lots to go on here...
... BeutePanzers so many! Red Army Panther tanks, King Tiger, Sd.Kfz's, etc... IDF captured/re-manufactured kit ... Allied use of Axis equipment, and even at a push ... Rhodesian T-55's, French post war Panthers!!!! the list is practically endless !
Timeline = 1914 till present day
Scale ... 1/72 through to 1/16
No "what if's" there's a Campaign for that about to begin.

Sounds lika a cool campaign, but could it be extended to any vehicle serving under the flag of a nation that was not responsible for its production? That way we could include italian armor captured by the germans. Not necessarily used against its former owners.

I was thinking of a 9 month run and starting in August but as were just beginning to get interest this could be flexible.

Yes! didn't think of changing sides!!!??? as any captured Italian Armour would become a 'BeutePanzer' and so it would used against it's former owners new Allies!

Sorry Ian no 'Lend-Lease' as this campaign is for captured AFV etc, now fighting for the other side, hence.... 'Under a different Flag' I thought it would be great to see what people would do to Afv's, softskin's etc... modified (some) and painted differently to what we are used to!
but you could still built your.
Shermans (as 'BeutePanzers' ='Trophy Tanks') Firefly's and M4 or even recovery versions with their turrets removed!
Churchill's as used after capture at Diepe and Kursk etc.
How about the Hetzers and Panthers etc used by the Poles in the Warsaw uprising? there's a picture somewhere of a Hetzer used as a blockade/road block which would make a cool diorama!
M3's captured in Tunisia, Europe and Eastern front.
Studebaker US6 captured on Russian front check these out...

I was initially worried about your no "what-ifs" rule, but checking Google Images, I saw plenty of material as far as Schwimmwagens in American, British, and Canadian service, and American and Russian Jeeps in German use. (The real trick is making rough, hand-painted markings on the prototype look realistic in miniature.)
I saw a photo a month ago or so, of a Kraftrad (whatever that tracked motorcycle is called) in the service of a US Army medic, with blue flags with a white star draped over it for ID.
Also, consider US-made rockets and weapons supplied to "Afghanistan rebels" in the 1980's to fight off the Soviets, that were later used by the Taliban (same rebels?) against American units. No heavy equipment, I guess though.
Anyway, I'll definitely have something for this one.

I think that the title for the campaign does not match the proposed content and is too general. Something including either "War Prize" or "Trophy" etc would be far better match to the true campaign subject.
That said, I am interested in doing either a NKPA BA-64 in US Army markings or an ex NKPA SU76M in Republic of Korea markings

I totally agree it's interesting and a good subject for this build. Just curious how they came to be in Japanese hands.
P.S.: Google just revealed to me that Academy's kit contains a decal option for just such a Japanese trophy Stuart. That's AWFULLY handy.

Didn't know about the Japanese Stuarts? but what a great choice! plus a lot of really good ideas for other projects too can't wait to see them.
As we seem to be getting more folks interested. The dates I have suggested starting 1st August 2011 to run till 30th May 2012. Is this ok with everybody or does this require some tweaking?
