Hi folks,
Just joined Armorama after completing my first scale model. I enjoyed building and painting this Panzer IV and look forward to more in the future. C&C always welcome.
Struggling to get the pics link to work. Here's where it is in the meantime: http://gallery.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/26589

Thanks guys
And thanks very much for posting my pics for me!
I've watched a few dvd tutorials (AK interactive) and pretty much had a go at most of the techniques in one form or another. It turned out to be a platform to test the correct procedure and what techniques I liked best.
I found the weathering quite challenging as the reference photos i've seen are all black and white and the panzers look very clean! I've overdone the weathering in most of the places but I now know how to do it and next time I'll calm it down a touch.
I've started on my next project which is a Pz.Kfw.III Ausf.N with Fruilmodel tracks and a Voyager detail kit.

Thanks chaps!
The next panzer will be an experiment in colour modulation. It'll be the dark grey colour ala 1942.

Stupendous build Mark. Can't hardly believe it is your first attempt. I think I see another competitor in the model of the month showdown.

Def my first scale model. I've painting a fair few miniatures for gaming in the past and I can use an airbrush reasonably as I've done some vehicles for gaming also.
Apart from some experimentation on a practise model (GW Valkyrie) it's a first for weathering. I'd say all the techniques apart from some brush painting and using an airbrush were new to me.
Great fun! although I had to re-do my first attempt on the chipping as I overdid the hairspray technique. This worked out ok as I sprayed over it lightly and added chips using the sponge technique (which I now prefer).

I've got DVDs on winter techniques, oils/washes/etc. (both AK I think) , one on colour modulation and one on purely acrylic based techniques. I would say the AK ones were the main source of my inspiration.
The colour modulation seems to be an advanced application of the painting prior to the weathering in the AK DVDs and the acrylics DVD is a bit of a Vallejo paints showcase. That's not to say it isn't good just a different take on it if you don't like to use oils etc. Being a games miniature painter the acrylic painting DVD would be great as it shows how to exploit a acrylic paint collection you already own for scale modelling.
Buy the AK ones first as I think they are generally more useful.

Thanks guys. Working on number 2 at the moment. Should be decent.
I'll have it done at the end of the month or sooner depending on other projects.
I've started to collect the subject material for number 3. It'll be a diorama of a scene in one of the Kharkov battles in WW2. It'll take much longer for that one but I should learn heaps.
Cheers
