Nice job on the 232 (8 Rad) Anthony. Your paint chipping effect looks good.

Does this count?
A little bit of 1:1 scale modelling is getting in the way of 1/35

you lucky bugger! I've been chasing an ex military series 2a, or series 3 here in oz, but there arent many around. They are eother flogged to death, or no-one wants to part with them. Anyway, i still have a 1973 Holden sedan to rebuild if i want to do the full size cars!

It had been rather well used when i got it, but the great beauty of any elderly Land-Rover is that it's really just a great big Meccano set at heart. Everything bolts together, though getting some bits to come apart requires more than kitchen table modelling tools - large wrenches hammers and heat source are recommended
The 24v versions even seem to have missed out on the worst of Joe Lucas's legacy as well, though one day I'd like to find some radio gear to install. That of course is a whole new hobby in itself

Lately,
That Bronco kfz 13. It's been an interesting build.
Other than that, a Trumpeter Chinese Tank Transporter and a Morris C9 Flak cobbled out of parts from the spares box and the Dragon Flak 38.
A CMK Praga RND that wants to be a radio vehicle is calling to me from inside its box.
My Ural 4320 is saying 12 years is long enough, time to finish it...
Then there's my DUKW, untouched since 2003, not much to do before it's painted...
And a Tamiya M8 Greyhound... untouched since 2000
and so on. It's a bit embarrasing.
I'll post some pictures of the C9 when I can.

I'm actually starting a wheelie thing, the Wespe Models 1/48 Ford LRDG truck. It's for an AMPS review. Nothing glued up yet as I'm just getting into it, but 1/2 the parts are cleaned up.

Currently working on this little gem, and I emphasize the word little. I won it a couple of weeks ago at our club raffle for a $1 ticket. Money well spent I think:
Tamiya's 1/48 10HP Light Utility Truck
It's my replacement entry in the "Not Fighting Vehicles" campaign. I accidentally donated my campaign kit to said raffle above. Whoops.

Hi, Y'all!
Recently (May 2011) completed the "first pass" at my Horch 1A w/ Flak 38 DAK 1942 gun truck. Used two very old Tamiya kits (Horch and Flak 38, both vintage 1973 in my stash... ) with a lot of scratch work (windshield, side windows, gun deck, tilt, many fender, lamp, step, truck interior details, gun basket and many details).
Started next flak-wheelie: Esci Flak 30 on Tamiya Krupp Boxer 6x4. The gun is mostly done . The boxer is coyly staring at me from its box.

Patrick, Anthony;
Thanks for the kind words, guys!
This has been a great project, and I enjoyed the build and the painting hugely.
I hope to post this as a feature this site, or at least a post with several pics. (Better pics, like with good lighting and a better background than my kitchen-table place-mat, and camera on the tripod, etc.!)
I "primed" in Floquil engine black enamel, and followed with Tamiya acryl mix "desert tan" base coat. I did tiny chipping and scouring using an Exacto knife to chip off bits of the acryl to expose the near-black enamel (imagining this might emulate a wearing effect which would expose the original dunkelgrau coat under the "desert color"). I also scrubbed off some using a plastic dish scrubber and a little alcohol.
I faded the coat by over-spraying with a very dilute mix of gelb and deck-tan (mostly tan). I followed this with some pin-wash and a wash of burnt sienna oil. I "dirtied" the lower parts with very lightened flat earth. I dusted variably over the thing with artist's pastel chalks in light earth tones.
It's actually somewhat darker than I wanted it to be, but...
It IS a WIP... I am thinking of tossing more personal junk in, add gas and water cans, and maybe a trailer.
Cheers!
Bob
