It looks good to me too. Good job on the weathering and dusting. The tracks look a little clean to me though. This one is definitely a keeper though.

It seems T-72s are popular this week.

Very good job,the one color paint job came out great.I would echo what was said about the tracks, perhaps some dusting followed by dry brushing with steel

Hi Matthew
That looks very good indeed!
C'mon Matthew , why would you throw it away?
If on average your old kits were build and painted like this T-72, well maybe they actually were very nice and it's quite a PITY that you scrapped them.
Did you junk them because they weren't "perfect" didn't you?
I really hope you wouldn't mind if I say that in my opinion "perfection" would be a "long term goal" , not a frustrating obsession. If the model which we have build is not perfect, well the next one will be better and the one after that, will be a lot much better. That's in my very humble opinion, is the only way to reach the perfection...with a lot of practice and positive thinking.
So well done and congrats Matthew, carry on this way and never mind "perfection"
cheers

That I regard as my "rivit counter" phase, I am now out of that phase, thank god.
well, I know the "sinctoms" of "rivet counter syndrome"
Two hundred projects started and no one finished
It could be really stressful
Accuracy is very important in this hobby but it can't go mad for that
So now I can't wait to see your next "Imperfect" build
(...and in my opinion you shouldn't replace the tracks to your T-72. If I were you... I'd build another one ...)
cheers and congrats again

Nice straight from the box job, the Iraqi version needs a dazzler? perhaps and yes some parts aren't there, but the paint job is quite good. It's a little 'old school' (nothing wrong with that however) perhaps, but what weathering you have looks convincing.
I'd say give it some pastel, a few tweaks here and there, then on to the next.
Let me amend that it isn't quite so out of the box, you added a few things. So much the better...

Wow, I think perhaps my keepers are not as good as your junk!! The T-72 looks great and would be greatly improved with some dust on the tracks, but looks fine now.
But remember, this is a hobby, so it should relieve stress and promote relaxation. Enjoy the process, and hopefully the results too.
Happy Modelling, -zon

Had to remind myself of that one too yesterday. Spent two hours to get one PE toolclamp built and then discovered it was wrong.
If you ever feel like a paintjob goes wrong, Matthew, overcleaner can work miracles. Will remove most of the paint pretty easily. As far as my mess-ups go: they're either wailting for the ovencleaner or set up to practice airbrushing. I have a Panther A among my running builds with three different primers on it: just to test.
There's always a way to recyle old builds.

Maybe it would be a too thick paint coat Matt

I have just started another T-72, its going be hatches open so some basic interior work to do, and some metal tracks, the expense of the tracks will inspire me to paint them better
Nice one. Spend some time around the internet to collect information and take it easy. Don't go forcing it: we do this stuff for our enjoyment. One thing about the 72 from tamiya is that the turret and hull combo only works for a NVA vehicle. Most people either don't know or don't care, so do not let it withhold you from the enjoyment of smelling cyanoacrylate and white metal
