In fact you can find some 1/35 ( at least they're advertised as being 1/35...) diecast cars on eBay, mostly Japanese and Korean brands (I've got some Kia sedans in the stash) :

but I must say that usually, details are rather so-so...

just my thoughts but if the terrorists where outside then i would think snipers would be used to take them down. Why not build the house with the back open so you can look in. Hobbyboss are bringing out a hardtop land rover that you could use. I don't know if you can get hold of it on dvd but there was a brittish tv programme called ultimate force that is based on the sas and the early series had chris ryan as an advisor. There are some good house clearing bits in it.

Hi mate
As the chap above states. If the xrays were outside police riflemen as well as Arv crews would have taken them out long befor the Regiment got anywhere near them. Also sadly for you the tv crew would not be allowed that close to a subject address and if they were, someone would be in a lot of trouble for not getting them out of it.
Oh regarding the suits for crw. They tend to be a very dark blue nomex suit. If you are working on a Mumai style incident then you would have a mixture of police and Sas fire arms teams working together which would certainly make a good scene.
All the best of luck with your work.

just to add a bit, if its supposed to be set in this time peroid i think the mp 5 would be out, it seems 5.56mm is the current calibre. If you where doing the mumbia situation mentioned the sas figures could be used with different heads. If you look on the tv most coverage of armed incidents the police are holding 5.56mm rifles G36 seem popular. Dragon also used to do an NYPD set that was in the same series as the sas, that might be handy and also a Hong Hong SDU set that was based on the sas set but that had kevlar helmets and a couple of different parts. I don't know how easy they would be to get. good luck with the build

The chap is right the Regiment may well use G36 as do a lot of fire arms units of the police however some police units still carry MP5 on their cars but most now have 5.56mm and 7.62 on board.Oh,all units would wear the kevlar helmet as it is a recognition sign as it were,oh and sas guys would also wear kit with POLICE written on it.

Depends where you are going to base it.The arvs in the met tend to have mp5s as does the city police in the arvs (but have access to g36) most other forces now use 5.56 and have to have 7.62 capability on board. The armed units within on the outer fringes of London have g36 as it has a better stopping capabilty than a 9mm,although if your still thinking of hostage situation the de/di teams will use mp5 and moe (method of entry) shotguns.
Basically mate what ever you build can't be that wrong as we have so many units that will be attending at various times no "expert" could cast doubt on a lot of it. Just don't put your vehicles on the wrong side of the road!

Thanks for all your tips and comments. This is going to be harder than I thought but it's coming along, i've just finished building the pavement and ill start building the house soon, the only 1/35 sas figures available are with mp5's so ill have to stick with them and the camera crew will be far away and well protected so trust me ill make sure its realistic. My dad's a cop himself and i asked him what would happen in a situation like this and he said first they'd call in armed police but if they failed they would go straight to the sas, however at this time because of the war in afghanistan they wouldn't be wearing the blackish blue camo but a desert camo so ill set the diorama in the future, after the afghan war has ended if it ever does.

Hi mate.
The Regiment always have a CRW team in the uk so blue/black nomex suits it would be.Also we have (police) intervention teams called de/di/re/ri (about 50% of us are ex army) all this means is that we are trained to carry out hostage rescue. If it becomes protracted yes the sas will be called but for them to arrive can take quite a while, so if god forbid it all goes wrong before they are there, then police teams would go in. Please don't put the lads in desert cam.

Right. Just an update on whats going on. I've finished the road and the pavement, i've finished the base for the smaller side of the the road, i'm making it a small wooded area with trees and stuff and yeah ill put up some railings later. I'm going to order at least 3 insurgents but more if i can find different models in 1/35 and i'll order 4 sas soldiers and also armed police if i can find them. The sas WILL be in the blueish black clothing that they well known for and not desert camo. I'll put up pictures some time when i've done more to the diorama.

Look forward to seeing it. You could use some more sas figures and stencil police onto their kit, plenty of photos on the net.

Try and get a pump action shotgun too. As one would be carrying it slung as well as his other weapons. To be used for moe or doing in the subjects vehicles tyres.

Thanks for everyone trying to help. I'm going to stick with mp5's because they are still used in close combat anti-terrorism missions.
I just hit the jackpot i think. Along with the original sas figures i am also going to buy these: http://www.gdkits.com/135-hong-kong-police-sdu-p-18973.html
I know its hong kong but come on, they're identical to the sas just with different poses so i'm definately using them and one even has a shotgun which is perfect. Now i just need to find more insurgents because if there were only 3, the police would have taken them out before the sas were needed i reckon. Seriously, to everyone who has helped thanks loads, you're tips and ideas have all helped even if i haven't had time to reply to every comment which at the beginning i tried to do. Not sure whether to put up new photos today or when i get a few more trees in like a week. I might put some up later today so keep your eyes peeled people.

Matt, Look for a movie from the mid/late 80's called either "Final Option" or after the name was changed, "He Who Dares" (Link - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083941/ ) Great flick whick has A LOT of video of the ACTUAL S.A.S. Troopers doing the actual assault. Crazy as it seems the SAME unit did the ACTUAL assault on the Iranian Embassy 6 years later! I have it on VHS and DVD.

Hey people, i decided to put the photos up today because it seems like i won't be getting the new trees and grassmats for a while because i'm going to focus on building the figures instead of the actual scenery. So far i haven't spent a single penny on this diorama, it's all recycled stuff i've found in the house. The road is made from sandpaper, the pavement is made from some crack filling stuff from the garage, the curbs are made from a long strip of balsa wood, the trees are from an old train set i had when i was little, the stream is simply dried wood adhesive from the attic and the twigs and soil in the wooded area are just from the garden. All is about to change though, i'm about to spend £40 on the figures alone oh well hope you like it so far! Remember in the wooded area there will be a few more trees added in a few weeks time.

By the way, i've noticed that some diorama topics have that cog symbol on the left. I'm not exactly sure what it means but it looks like its for diorama's being built in progress with pictures because it's on the red rain, clerveux river and that aussie's in iraq topics. How do i put it on?? Thanks

Finally worked out how to change my nationality, I'm british not american Oh and to all americans out there, Britain and the rest of the world thanks your army for successfully killing Bin Laden. A little off-topic but oh well.
