Hello Peter! We are fascinated with this diorama. Would you please say more about the transparent resin: What kept the resin from getting hot, and distorting the plastic model? Did you have to tend to the plastic, while wet, to prevent it from "cupping" up along the sides of the tank? How are the fine white-cap waves modeled?
Do the iron filings on the upper hull contribute to the finished color, or, are the iron filings painted-over?

Thank you guys!
Rick!
It is a smooth urethan resin, which is colored with Gunze acrylls.
Warming the resin but not as much as poliester resin.
I try to used the poliester resin at several times, but it's allways melted the model.
The waves made from vallejo water effect. You can see in the vallejo home page. When you anointed its white, but after it's dry it is transparent.
I used a big brush to anointing. After when it's dry, I painted(dry brush) the wave tops with white.
I hope you understand what I wrote.

Peter,
This is inspirational. I think the best compliment that anyone can pay is that it's the kind of diorama that people study to learn from.
Thanks for sharing.

That particular tank is located in front of Kilili beach here in Saipan, hope they would put it in a platform and a roof on it. Same for the other rusted tanks on display here.
