I note most modern Vehicles usually have cool boxes of various types adorning their storage baskets today. Are these available commercially or are they scratch built.

Paul,
I know from expierience that modern US vehicles use ammo cans a lot on the outside of their vehicles. On M1 tanks, they strap them onto the sides or cram them into bustle racks. On vehicle that have large crew compartments like Bradleys, Strykers, and M113s a lot of stuff is stowed inside. Sometimes wooden crates are found and used. I've even seen MRE boxes reinforced with green duct tape cramed with anything from boresight kits to range flags to porn to cans of Skoal.
One note; during my time as a Bradley crewman we also had M1A1s in our unit that were all issued 25mm ammo cans from the Bradleys.

Dan
I am finishing up a Trumpeter Stryker and I was looking at how to add all types of storage as seen on modern vehicles.
Whilst looking at this I noticed that on US vehicles there always seemed to be an Ice Box; cooler, chillier box, not sure what you call them. Knowing how you guys like your drinks cool I assumed that these where an essential piece of kit favoured by the crew and not standard issue
I did wonder how it is that these are usually bright blue or red do they not assist in presenting a target to aim at.
I have been trying to source if these are available commercially or have they been scratch build for the models.
I note that Frenchy has posted some information
Many Thanks
