I have often thought about this. Woodland sciences make tall grass in a yellow color. I thought that might be the best representation to scale wheat. Another option would be to acquire some bailing twin used on farms, and cut some length of wheat out of that.

One might also brows through the craft store and see if there are any dried flowers or vegetation that would be suitable.

Hello Stan,

Busch Modellbau here in Germany has a nice range of plants made in styrene.
You will find corn and wheat in their range. The only problem is that this stuff is in HO scale. But generally, the plants are oversized, so that they can used for 1/35 scale, too. Check here:

To go along with what John suggested. I have used their product and I like it. Here is what I used and my project.

Randy is right!

The product is really useful, but if you want to save some money, you can use unrevelled hemp rope. Cut to the required length and put in water...the strands straighten out..et voilà! Looks alike!

Done it, been there..and it works just fine!

Leaves you with "building" the field, which can be difficult. Trial and error does the trick! Wish you good luck and lots of patience!

As you're in the UK go to Focus or Wilko's and get set of paint brushes (the dcorating kind) They are the right colour and less than a fiver
