Hey all,
I know this might not be the right place for this post but, does anyone know of manufacturers (besides Mig) that makes 1/35 scale futuristic figures? I have an idea for a new dio set in late 21st century US and don't know where to begin to look. If anyone knows of a good sci-fi modeling site, that would be great too. Thanks.
Dan

Evolution makes a couple of Stalkers that have a nice post-apocalyptic feel to them.
You may want to drop by Historicus Forma and ModelGeek, I'm sure that I remember seeing some stuff there. If not 1/35 then 54mm which is certainly acceptable.

Thanks Jeremy,
How far off is 54mm from 1/35?

It's so close that there is barely any noticeable difference, they are practically the same scale.
Keep in mind that there are variations within figures of any scale between manufacturers, and 54mm will play well into this. It's no different than people in real life, just keep the weapons and equipment from the same manufacturer if necessary so that you don't have different sizes of the same weapon or other equipment. It may not even be an issue in your case.

Jeremy,
Sweet! I did not know that. Seems like that would open up a lot of possibilities.

It is sweet, and don't worry about them being metal or resin or w/e, you can't tell when the paint is on. Do some exploring and see what you come up with, and feel free to drop a post on HF and ask the guys over there what's out there in the way of futuristic figures. A lot of them are really dedicated to figures and can help steer you in more precise directions.
Would love to know what you are planning

Jeremy,
I don't know if your familier with the 1980's board game Fortress America but, I am planning a dio inspired by it. I am gonna use the Mig Hover Tank as a main focus. If your not familier with the game, ther is a good description on Wikipedia. Thinking about puting a partisan in there too.

That sounds really familiar, like I may have had it. Did it come with little armored wheeled vehicles and bombers as well?

Yeah, it had wheeled transport vehicles, hover tanks, bombers, laser stations, and helicopters. It was made by the same people that made Axis and Allies.

Yep, that was it. Man I had a lot of fun with that game, wish I never got rid of it but how were we supposed to know?
I'm running a "What If?" campaign, and we'd love to see your project find it's way over there. It just started and is running for a good year, so you have plenty of time to let rl get in the way
Here's the main campaign page: What If 2

Thanks Jeremy,
I will definitley be putting it in your campaign. I finish my current dio though. I was also thinking of a dio based on the Harold Coyle book, Team Yankee. It's about how WWIII kicks off in Europe during the hiight of the Cold War in the 1980s. The Russians cross the Fulda Gap and war ensues. That is the 1st book in a series but I have'nt read any more.

i like the near future scenes as well, lots of fun and creative opportunities with them. here's a diorama i made not too long ago where i modified some dragon figures to come up with futuristic merc soldiers:
Tripwire
the guns are simply kitbashes where a little imagination can turn weapons we've seen before into something new. i'd like to see more figures come out that are more fantasy in 1/35th. there are some cool figures for the 1/20 maschinen krieger series out there.
really looking forward to seeing what your project brings. cheers, bd.

Jeremy,
You are right about Bruce's work. I've been using hip "Never Abandoned" feature as a ref for my recent dio based in Italy. I really like the way his building is weathered.

Oh man, it was a real treat to watch his progress with that one. I think I learned more in those few weeks than I did the entire time I've tried researching it on my own
