Greetings and salutations. I finished my latest dio last week and thought I would share some pictures with you.

I'll fill the story behind the dio in a bit later. I have it all typed out but I left it at work.

For now, details are as follows:

Dragon Pz.Kpfw. I Ausf.A Modified w/Interior
Bronco Models 1/35 Kfz.13 Adler Armored Car
MiniArt Village Road
Various figures from Dragon, Alpine, and MiniArt

I split the diorama into two part for ease of moving and for judging purposes.
I hope you enjoy the pics (Some of the ground work has been PhotoShop modified)

Beautiful. Very nice. Any chance of getting some interior pics of the Adler Car?

Nice job and it's cool to see a dio with all early war stuff in it.

Thanks everyone. It was a fun build and a nice change to do an early war diorama.

Dan, here some interior shots for you. The kit was pretty spartan interior wise so I added the grenades, ammo can and MP40. Gauges and placards are Archer.

It's good to see that armored car in a nice diorama like this. Excellent work on the figures, vehicles, and scenery. Your painting is very good. Only thing I would really change is to angle the road and fence a little so that they aren't running parallel with the edges of the base, but I like how you made the base modular and how well the edges blend in when the two halves are placed together.

Well I'm a little late in providing the narrative but here goes.

Diorama represents the pre-incursion of a Polish village during late Spring 1940. Although Poland was defeated the previous fall, occupation enforcement and partisan hunting was still an ongoing process. After the invasion of Poland the limits of the Panzer I were quite apparent and it soon began its phase out process to be modified for other roles (Ammo Haulers, Ambulance, Flakpanzer etc.) as well as being used as more of a security and policing type vehicle which I am showing here. I also tried to represent the two different styles of tunics that were in use during that time that were most easily identified by the earlier having the dark collars and the newer having the same color as the rest of the tunic.

The Dragon Panzer I was painted with various shades of Tamiya gray and has a blue filter treatment. On-board equipment was painted with Vallejo acrylics. Artists oils were used for washes and dry brushing. Figures are a mixture of Dragon and MiniArt and were painted with Vallejo acrylics. Artists oils were used for faces and hands.

The Bronco Adler Armoured Car was painted with various shades of Tamiya gray and has a blue filter treatment. Some of the interior items were added from the spares box. On-board equipment was painted with Vallejo acrylics. Artists oils were used for washes and dry brushing. Figures are a mixture of Dragon and MiniArt and were painted with Vallejo acrylics. Artists oils were used for faces and hands.

Great paintjob on those figures Sir!!!

The composition of the scene is very clever and realistic. They are not just standing around at random!! Well done!!!

And it's good to see a more unusual vehicle for once! Capital choice!! And the additional detailing is paying off!!!

My only remark (if you allow me) would be that Poland was (and still partly is) known for its bad roads. I just can't see a polish village having cobbled roads in 1939.

Cheers

Thanks Romain. It was a fun build using some lesser used subjects. And thanks for the road advice. I did a search for images of the 1939 invasion and although I found more dirt road pics than any other, I did find quite a few that showed cobbled roads and some even identified the towns the pictures were taken in. Some weren't the same style of stone but they were cobbled roads. Here's a few pics that I found that led me to using a MiniArt base called Village Road.

LOL No reason to get your coat. It's all good. Like you said they weren't know for their roads and I found lots of pictures that proved that. But I had to use that base somewhere
