Also concord publishing books
on T-34 & Is series, T-34/76: Camouflage and Markings by Przemyslaw Skilski and Mariusz Filipiuk is a good book if you can get a copy at a reasonable price

That is good stuff is their anything about German armor, short of buying books. I only have a few kits nor am I anywhere near being good enough to add the great amounts of detail as most of you create in project thru the books.

Thanks guys this is great stuff, one more small ? I just bought my first Armor kits at the IPMS So Cal contest this weekend a 1/35 Tamiya Panther V sdkvh 171 Ausf A and the 1/35 Tamiya Jagdpanzer L/70 Lang for 20$. And was told Tamiya kits are good starter kits. The Panther will be my first kit before I venture over to TD's, are the panther A's always that yellow color, also do they all have that grid looking paint jobs, are there any gray ones or white ones and can it be built accutately out of box?. Sorry for noob questions but I am converting from ships and A/C.

IIRC, the first Panthers (Ausf D) appeared in December 1942 and in February 1943, the Dark Grey base coat was changed to Dark Yellow, so only those in the very first batch might have been issued in Dark Grey ..and the A variant appeared in August 1943 anyway . The grid looking paint job you're refering to is the Zimmerit coating applied to German tanks from December 1943 to September 1944. Several patterns can be found.http://www.panzerworld.net/zimmerit

Eugene its nothing to do with your request and everything to do with the time of year, the forums get a lot quieter in the summer as members spend more time outside. just let your question run and more answers will come in, you may need to bump it up once in a while.

The trick is to be specific in your thread title so perhaps a better title would be "Looking for Kit Recommendations for a starter in Geman Armor"
For the panther and the Jagdpanzer L/70 Lang you would be better to start a new thread for each one as you start them. First thing I do when I'm interested in a kit is go to google and enter the name and number of the kit and add the word review at the end to see what other modelers have made of the kit. You could also do an image search and put the word profile which will bring up color profiles if there are any out there.
I would be careful of adding on supplementary questions in a thread like this becasue someone not interested in your original thread title might have all the answers to your latest question about the Panther and JagdPanzer but never see it..
I would build the Panther and the Lang out of the box and follow the painting guides included. They're okay kits but old- that's why they were cheap
one final thing I have never seen a Panther painted in a grey scheme though I may be wrong.

The Panther D went into service after the grey colour scheme was dropped and replaced with the yellow, however I have also learnt never say never.
