Morning everyone.....
Any ideas on how I could strengthen the bases for MiniArt's dio kits? I have the Normandy Cross Roads kit which I will be putting my Dragonwagon on to. looking at the two bases, they are slightly raised, which leaves a hollow underneath, and I'm concerned that the weight of the model will cause the base to "dip" and distort. I would like to beef up the suspension, so to speak, any ideas? Should I pour some plaster to fill the void?

Hi Kelly
I cut the "lip" edges off and place the base inside the "balsa" sides I give my base frame. Then the thermoformed pastic sits directly on something solid. The lip is usually a bit uneven anyway. This also allows the MiniArt piece to sit better in your chosen frame.

That sounds like a good idea. A lot better that putting some spars inside the model. Will try that, thanks

I cut the lip off and glue it onto a thin sheet of plywood

Sigh...it must be Monday....haha didn't think of cutting the lip off, it just looked like it was supposed to be like that...I will try that, I have the main base made up of the green floral foam to rest on, and since the DW is bigger than the base, making the MA base level with the foam will allow me to 'add on' more ground cover to blend the bases together..thanks again!
