Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has been working on this kit?I am very near the finish of my fist one.I say first because of the cost being exellent value I'll will likely build another 1 or 2.The quality is definatley up to Academy standard and the fit of all pieces is very good. The machine gun is a small kit in itself and and is quite delicate.I have only done 1 door without adding the clear window and uparmored cover. On the next door I am going to see if the 8 pins that support the cover are really needed.I have a feeling they are one of those parts that will never be seen. The figures are are "OK",not close to resin.I have only done the exiting driver, which needed some surgery. The instructions show him with a straight right leg and arm,but both are bent at knee and elbow and don't fit at all. Also his right hand needed to be turned so he at least touched the steering wheel and wasn't grasping air.I will never understand why companies exept Tamiya can never get a driver correct.Overall a very good investment.
Tom

Hey Tom
When youre posting a message you'll see a button underneath which says [img]. Press it and you get some html code with space for the URL of the image.
If you are using photobucket, it already has the img codes under each image and you only need to paste them here. If you are using imageshack or picasa you need to copy the image url and paste in between the two codes.
If you still can't figure it out, paste a link to youre album, and I'll show you which URL to use.
Hope this helps!

Looking good Tom, glad to see you figured out out how to post photos. If you can, try taking the photos in natural light and against a plain background to avoid the yellowish tinge to the photos.
I've picked up the M1151 recently and its a very good kit with some excellent details. I can see what you mean about the crew though; they don't seem to fit the vehicle very well. Check out my GMV thread as I'll be posting some updates on it in a few days.
Are you planning on using any aftermarket updates on it? I think I can see the Legends crew in the last photo.
Looking forward to more progress

I meant the box on the left hand side of the photo, not the figure itself. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi guys.
The pins for the windows are not needed. The cover hides them. Also with the sides of the windows ,which is part 10 there are only 4,you have four doors that need 8 .Big mistake on their part.I used some scratch styene and better results.

Very nice looking build. Is this Humvee appropriate for the 2003 invasion?

Tim these are not what units had in 03'. We had as gun trucks regular humvees w/ ghetto armor, no top over driver or squad leader in front pass seat.
Open in back w/sandbags on floor for protection from blast underneath. Life of lite Abn Inf made motorized. Thats HOW WE ROLLED!

Joey,
Thanks for the info. Which of the Academy kits would be appropriate for the 2003 time frame?

Any kit will do, the one that looks the best just from the box art is the Ita Gun truck kit. But any will work Tam, just need to do your research.

Thanks Joey. Asking knowledgeable people like yourself is part of my research. However, I learned a long time ago not to judge a model by its box art.
Cheers,

Hi guys,
Getting close to the end.I'm using 2 of the Legend figs, the guy in back with the laptop and I believe the commander on the computer. Both needed shaving down and legs and feet modified, but a much better fit than I could get with a Bronco kit.Good enough the doors can stay open.A hint for the gunner.Don't go with the box pics. You'll notice under his left arm there is an indent that sits on the shield and faces him forward in a much more natural position.I'll try to get some pics later today.Be kind, still working on painting the figs, digital camo is a huge pain.

Looking pretty good. NIce job on the figures so far. One note though, the body armor should also be in UCP (Universal Camo Pattern) like the rest of the uniforms. The USMC uses the Cayote Brown body armor, not the US Army.
Here is a pic of Army Soldiers wearing UCP ACUs (Army Combat Uniform) and body armor (and a Brit Soldier thrown in for good measure).

Unless of course you want to do them as SF dudes. Then the USMC MTV kit is absolutely correct.

Rob is correct. Most of us Regular Army guys don't think about what the SF guys wear. WIth them, just about anything goes.

Gino, thanks for this nice picture.
However I don't think the guy on the picture is a Brit. He doesn't wear the British helmet and I don't think it's regular for a Brit to go on patrol with an AK rifle
I guess he is more likely from some East European country army.
