I am looking at getting a CMK #3019 1/35 fuel tanker conversion kit. I know it is made for Tamika, but I want to use the Italeri hard top CCKW, cause I like the early tin roof idea. I have already filled in the roof where the machine gun hole was.

Has anybody done something like this? Is it possible, and how much hassle would it be?

TIA for any help you can give me on this.

Just to give you fair warning, the CMK kit comes with two fuel tanks that need a little work. As they come both tanks have convex ends, and in reality this makes the load bend over long for both the Tamyia, Italeri and Heller duce and a half frames.
To correct this you will need to dremil out one end on each tank to a concave shape, where the one convex end will fit snuggly into the other tanks concave end.

Here's one I did on the Heller kit a few years ago.

Notice concave end of front tank:

How close the tanks snuggle up:

And how the convex ends are to the rear:

Hope that helps.

Good info, Dave. Thanks. I have that same CMK conversion and will get to it one of these days. Nice to know some of the hiccups ahead of time.

Unfortunately I found out about the tanks after I finished the kit.
But if you look at my kit you can see how much longer the stock tanks make the rear stick out past the end of the frame, just about to the point of the bumperettes on the rear.
