NICE!! But will this be sold as a whole new T-62 kit with this upgrade added to it.. or will it be sold as an upgrade set that can be used with the previously released T-62 kit?

EXCELLENT
I waited to see a T62 BDD so it seems that it will become reality.

Notice that the parts are on a T62 with plastic side skirts!!!!

Hey!

Thats amazing, and I bet it will be the whole kit as they did with the BMP-3 before. Ever saw an "aftermarket" set by Trumpy? (except tracks)

Thanks for sharing, cant wait to get one,

Actually. Trumpeter has released a few upgrade sets.. mostly for the Stryker.. a couple of which were PE sets. But I guess this one looks like it will be a whole new kit.

Yes it has released also some track link sets, but me too I think that will be a new kit considering how different look the fenders in the pics which Alex has posted

PS How about the Trumpeter T-64?

yes me too I'd like to know if it's a new kit or an update set. I want to build a Soviet T-62M in Afghanistan, is this the right kit? or should I use the mod 72

I believe that Trumpy's mod 72 is a Syrian tank.

The turret in the MIG set have the anti-radiation matting as seen on just a handful of T-62's in Afghanistan (althought it should be much more common on a late Cold War vehicle in Europe?). So, if one wants to build a T-62 with the matting the MIG set is the only game in town. Old thread: https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/170374#1430396

Yes, you can. T-62 Model 1962 did get M-upgraded as can be seen on a few pictures from Afghanistan. They seem rare thought. Basing the new Trumpy kit on the 1972 kit would make more sence. A barrel with thermal sleeve would also be nice as an option.
Also regarding M's: https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/179395#1506960

I believe that Trumpy's mod 72 is a Syrian tank.

There are three basic production variants of the T-62: Model 1962, 1967 and 1972.
Basic differences are:
1962: Early engine deck (with access hatches and wading rails), early turret (no 12.7mm).
1967: Late engine deck (no access hatches and wading rails but WITH wading hatches), early turret(no 12.7mm).
1972: Late engine deck (no access hatches and wading rails but WITH wading hatches), late turret (with 12.7mm)

So apart from the decals the Trumpy m1972 is a production tank WITH the exeption for the tracks as these are Rmsh and not the original Omsh. All three production models came originally with OMSH tracks ("T-55 style"). Becourse of better performance and easier logistics T-55 and T-62 were upgraded to use RMSH-tracks ("T-72 style"). The drive sprocket were changed but is not the same as the one on the T-72 (Trumpeter got it right in the 1972 kit). Many vehicles serving in Afghanistan and perhaps all (?) M-upgraded had Rmsh tracks.

Cheers,
/E

Hello colleagues!

I can not understand your joys.
What's so great about this "new" kit?
All kits of the T-62 from Trumpeter are scrap and nothing else.
This update is also a catastrophe, in this case is simply nothing!

Best regards

Hi Horst
I don't agree with you, but aside that, would you mind telling us what in your opinion is wrong in Trumpeter T-62 kit?

Thanks in advance

Hi Mauro!
It's no problem that you're not with my opinion.
At this point, the right question would be: What is generally correct by the T-62 models from Trumpeter?
I can say nothing! The compleat production run is only bad reproduction of the real russian T-62.

1. The turrets geometry of T-62 mod. 1962 and mod. 1972 are incorrect.
2. The positioning of optical equipment on the top of the turrets is incorrect.
3. The positioning of loader and commander hatches is incorrect.
4. The positioning of the hatch for the ejection of the shells is incorrect.
5. The upper hull is incorrect, too.
6. The lower hull is also incorrect.

I started to build my T-62M mod. 1962 for Afghanistan 1979-1989 on this forum.
http://panzer35.ru/forum/45-3084-1

On this forum you will find more technical details about T-62 but you must be registered here after that you will see all the photos etc.
http://polygon35.ru/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=92
http://polygon35.ru/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=64

Also I recommend to visit an another russian forum www.dishmodels.ru you will find many usefull photos.

I think you can get here more informations about this theme.

Till today, no single manufacturer has managed a correct update or complete kit of the to T-62, nobody.

Im sorry, my english is not so good, at the moment I have a real problem to write down all the stuff about “Super Trumpeter models of the russian T-62 series”.

Vympel,

Thanks for the link to the thread!
I was wondering how russian modellers have fixed the problem with the angle of the rear hull plate on the Trumpeter T-62.
Do you have a link fe?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks a million for the links Horst

I've already known dishmodel site and I think is one of the best modeller site which I've ever seen

Anyway I've already known more or less the list of flaws which you've posted, and I knew that trumpeter T-62 was no 100% accurate. I don't agree with you because it seems to me that your criticism are too though.
After all is a nice crisp kit which don't have any big shape mistake in my very humble opinion. Furthermore is a far better than the old Tamiya kit

But anyway, I thank you a lot.
I think I'll do my first T-62 -1962 straight from the box, but I may correct the next one following your links

Can you tell me how can I get some reliable t-62 drawings?

Cheers and many thanks again

Nice addition but the real question is "Did Trumpeter fix the loaders hatch and rear end issues"? I doubt it. They do not have a reputation for fixing well documented errors with their kits. I have the MiG conversion that I will use. As for Matt's remark, Trumpeter's T-62 1972 may be a Syrian kit but not one used in the Yom Kippur War. The tracks are wrong. As mentioned Trumpeter's 1972 kit comes with RMSh tracks which make it a later refitted tank and not one sold to Syria in time for the 73 war. If you buy a set of Trumpeter's OMSh tracks, which they sell seperately, then you are in there as the older style sprockets are still in the kit.
