Hi all,

since I have to deal with quite some "let-it-thoroughly-dry-breaks" during the finishing stages of my TATRA build I was working on my little side-project again: the Stalinetz S-60 tractor. The build was originally intended for a campaign, but could'n't hold the timeline... anyway: The kit is from PlusModel (all resin and PE) and of a very fine quality. I was surprised of the nice detailling without bubbles and flashes

I first thought it would be a quick and easy build, but you know how it works with the "first thoughts"... because of the detailling and the vast number of kit parts (especially tiny little PE pieces you couldn't even see without a magnifying glass) it turned out to be quite a fiddly build. But since quality was nice, I hadn't had too much details to add and corrections to worry about. Here is what I got so far... almost ready for the paintshop.

i like the many color variations of the parts. It is a fun little thing to look at. If the paint went on it is a another looking vehicle I suppose.

I'm cusious!

Beautiful!!!!
Love it!!!!
It's one of those models that you want to keep them unpainted to see the good work you have done!!!!
I got a headache though, just with the thought of trying to assemble it!!!!
You must have a lot of patience,my friend!!!!
Keep up the good work!!!!

Really cool kit, nice build!!

I really wanted this kit, but when i looked at the price (116 euro's )
and the fun was a bit gone....

Looks very nice with a t-34 who is boged down and pulled out...

Alright, put some paint on it: first two very thin coats of ALCLAD grey Primer followed by two very thin coats of VALLEJO AIR Russian Green. Then I could finally assemble the running gear... tracks are still missiung though (will be painted seperately) So now it't time to make my mind about weathering and bringing some "life" to it. The story will go on

And finally there ist one thing about the kit, that bothers me: the frame is kind of bend: you can notice at the following picture that the cooler grille isn't lined up with the rest of the body... well, will put it on a small vignette, where I can place it in a way, that it won't be noticable to much...

Hi Marian. Not bad for a side project!!!
Actually its a very neat build considering all the small and tricky parts used. If the final paint job is as good as the build, it will be a stunner!

Thanks for the nice words guys, it's much appreciated.

Well, yeah, painting (and especially weathering) is something I'm still struggling with (too few experiences when you finish more or less only one model a year ). I will try some new techniques on that little tractor, I'd like to look it really worn but not totally battered... for now I'm still waiting for some already ordered paint and filter stuff. I guess I'll keep you posted on that one

Did some more work on the Stalinetz the last two weekends... it's a slow process, I know... but I'm happy to do anything at all these days (busy, busy...)

What did I do?

1. Brought some lights and shades in with some lighter and darker Russian Green from Vallejo Air (with Airbrush)

2. A first filter with some "Brown for Dark Green" from Sin Industries

3. Some detailpainting with mostly enamels and some filters with oil-paints there

4. A second filter over all the model again

Now it's time to start chipping and rusting the beast.

No, even though this thread seemed to be dead, it had been just sleeping for a veeeeery long time

Now what happenened in all those years... well, not too much I have to admit. I put one more filter with several oil paints on... the first result looked like this:

On the pictures I saw that it was still a bit too much of the oil colors on, so I took some more away with some turpentine and added some first streaks to it just for the fun of it:

And finally I brushed the tracks, put some AK "Track Wash" on and some first rust... dirt and maybe some more rust will follow when assembled:

I can tell you, putting filters on that tiny little thing was quite a story... patience is what you need here and I'm not even sure if I'm really satisfied with it already... I guess I will have to bring out the turpentine even once more...

What I still plan to do is putting on more grime and rust streaks, subtle pin washes, some dry brushed highlights, and one more light filter to blend everything in. Then a clear coat over everything, rust, chipping and dirt... lets hope it won't take so many years again

Right on time along with that fantastic photo-feature of Jacob Hederstierna-Johnse and his conversion of the Trumpeter S-65 to the earlier S-60 I finished mine after a loooong time of absence. But even though it might always take a while for me to finish my stuff, I have always managed to do so far...

I don't want to make too many more words here, just present the results. I'm working on a proper photo-booth, since then I can only apologize for the not ideal picture-conditions... Have fun, feel free to comment and that's it for this little guy I guess...
