Mauro- I'd go with what Eetu said about the grilles- paint them before gluing them in.

As for that piece of engraving you did- great work- looks like it was moulded on the kit.

I like the bench thing at the back of that BMD you have pictured- are there any more looking more closely at the rear deck?

Thanks a lot Karl. The funny thing is that one of the reason why I've decided to switch from aircraft modelling to tank modelling was tthat I didn't like engraving panel lines

Anyway you can find an exhaustive walkaround here

http://panzer35.ru/forum/45-138-3

The vehicle is depicted during a military parade. The bench was installed to carry the soldiers

Well, I'll follow your advise about the grills and this it means that I should decide quickly my exemplar

Do you have perhaps some other pics of that stunning Russian winter camo?

That it would help me a lot

Many thanks in advance to all of you

Cheers

Hi Mauro,

Olivier

@ Olivier
Yes Olivier I've already known about this new garage company. What I really haven't known yet is that they produce extra track links for the BDM!!. Thanks a million for the info!! Now I could consider to substitute the kit track links which actually are not very good

@Andreas
Thanks Andreas for the kind words

regarding master club tracks...

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/masterclub/mc35001.htm

Well, altough they are made on resin they are chaoer than the sector 35 ones

Have you ever known this site?

http://euromodelshop.ch/

Is it reliable and safe?

Thanks again to both of you

Cheers

Mauro,
thanks for the links! I've heard of searching with Cyrillic characters before, but how do you input them? Is there a special keyboard function?

You're welcome

You can find a virtual cyrillic keyboard here

http://winrus.com/screen_e.htm

However I use the Google language tools . I translate from English to Russian the tank acronym (for exemple BTR 70 translate from Eng. to Rus. = БТР 70) then I use the Russian word (copying it in Google research bar) as research Keyword
Instead If you look for references about a "T" tank (ex. T55, T62, T72...) you'll put in Google language tool the phrase " T-number- tank" (for exemple "T-55 tank" translate from English to Russian =T55 танк). You should do this way because Cyrillic and English alphabets have in common the letter "T" so if you use as keyword the acronym "t-55", you'll just get a research done in English
Google translator tool allows you to do also other researches a little more complex. For exemple you can translate the phrase "Kursk battle" (result is "Курская битва") and you'll obtain a lot of reference pics. Anyway you'll obtain the best result just translating simple phrases.

I hope this will be usefull for you

cheers

Hey Mauro- thanks for that link. I think I might add a bench like that whenever I get around to my build.

I would also love to find some more pictures of the BMD in that winter scheme. I just have the pics of it that you sent me.

Another way to obtain more information is using the advanced search Google tool

For exemple if you are looking for references about the airborne tank ASU-85 and you know that the tank utilizers were other than Russian, Czech and Polish , you'll put on the "all these words" bar the string "ASU-85" then you'll choose "Polish" or "Czech" in the langages bar.
Usually is a quite effective method

Hi all

My job keeps me away from my bench for a while, anyway I could make some of the hull episcopes from a thin aluminum foil.

Here you can see how I made them:

Here my result

I'm quite satisfied, now I hope I'll be able to close the hull soon

Cheers

Olivier, Pit

I'm very glad that you like it. I've tried several methods and it was quite... to find a right process
Anyway, this was the most effective way which I found and I'm very happy to share it with you

Yes, Thanks a lot, that is what i'm going to do. I've already primed the parts with Tamiya white fine primer (although I think I'll use Valleyo primer for the rest of the tank, i haven't decided yet)

Cheers and many thanks again

nice pics man!
I am very intrested in the greytone/yellow,looks very, euh, modelable

I too have been using Alufoil for making all sorts of lids, straps, anything you can bend it into

rolling over a piece with a "diamond gripped" handle of a scalpel gives a rough version of tear plate, it's on the front of my Ural as bumperinserts, the sky is the limit with that stuff, just make sure you give it a coat of mr surfacer or other primer (like any pe part) to make sure the apintjob sticks.

thanks for showing a diagram version to make periscopes!
have fun!

here you are other "dropping references"

...and a little drawing

I think that working "on budget" improves the modelling skill. I love using thin metal foils and plasticard for my projects...despite that I still spend a lot of money in kit modelling

many thanks Thanks for the Interest Pit

Cheers

Hi folks!

Last night i closed the lower hull. As you can see in the pics, to increase rigidity and to obtain the perpendicularity between vertical sides and the lower deck, I had to insert two ribs made on 2mm thick. plasticard

Although the result was good, I think I'll have to putty to fill some gaps

Well, it doesn't matter...have already known that it wasn't a DML kit (....I wish it was )
Anyway I didn't have any problem of fit so far...

Cheers

That's the reason why I posted the pics Sean I wanted to share my references.
I think I won't reproduce a BMD ready for the drop, it would be a too long project but I'd like someone will take inspiration from them

Thanks for the comment

Cheers
