First images of Trumpeter´s T-64 testshots can be found at ipmsphilipines.
Thanks to Bert Anido for showing them!
http://ipmsphilippines.com/site/thread/trumpeter-1-35-t-64/120

He also wrote, that the kit seems to have parts for possbily three versions.
So possibly we will see different kits.

These could be:
- T-64 mod 1961 with a 115 mm gun without thermal shroud and simplified commander’s cupola
- a standard production T-64A with coincidence range finder and Gill armor
- and a T-64B as evidenced by the presence of anti radiation cladding for the driver as separate add on pieces

And perhaps this kit could be the basis of a T-64BV.

Interesting news!

greetings...

I'm always up for a new soviet tank kit

I just hope they include rubber band tracks. I never have luck with trumpys individual link tracks

If I'm not mistaken, the tracks are workable type links- pretty sure there was a picture whenever the early shots of this were posted here a while ago.

Thanks for posting this up Soeren.

I still think the turret is too sharp on the upper front edge...although i agree that Trumpeter's kit has to be easier to build than the SKIF kit.

well that is a bit disapointing. I had no luck with the Neubaufahreug tracks. here is hoping they do like the KV series and include both

good idea, the lower hull and running gear (except the tracks of course) is the only decent part of the kit!

It looks better than the SKIF kit.
I truly hope Trumpeter will cover all versionsof this cool kit.

I built a T-64 from SKIF a few years ago, I remember poor fitting but the worst were the tracks.

Hope to see some reviews and build logs , I won't be able to get this one , too many kits on the bench and not enough space for all the stash.
I'll have to shrink the stash by half and then start getting some new kits...

Take care !

According to the release schedule, it will be at least February before it is out in North America. I have all the releases flyers from Stevens Intl' up to and including January and it isn't on any of them.

However Trumpeter could give us an Xmas bonus if they wanted to! Hint, Hint!

Looking forward to building these to see how they compare to the skif ones.

On the subject of T64`s, has any one got any photos or details of the T64 with the lead lined superstructure that was used in the `hotzone` at Chernobyl as i am going to build a model of this unusual version using one of my skif kits, but i only have a couple of pictures from a Russian language magazine from years ago.

Also are there any pictures available of another version of the T64 chassis used by, possibly , a mining company with a large superstructure with windows and an odd looking device fitted to the hull glacis plate that could be a drill attachment or maybe ground radar. The vehicle was painted Cream with Red stripes.

Also there was a really odd looking vehicle with what looked like a `calliope ` on a T72 hull that would make a really unusual model. Any pictures or details of this too please

Many thanks in advance

Wow, that kit looks like it is about ready to go to market. One would think we wouldn't have long to wait, but you never know. My friend is building the SKIF kit right now and it really isn't that bad. Needs new tracks and a few details here and there but overall not really all that terrible.

Hi Malcolm,
I can't help for the T-64 questions but the T-72 you mention is called TOS-1 Buratino.
You'll have a walkaround here dishmodels
another one here ru-modelism

I forgot to mention that a resin kit exists. It is manufactured by SP Designs of Ukraine.
Here is mine
Early conversion on a Dragon T-72. The newest conversion is more detailed and intended for the Tamiya kit.

Thanks for the info Olivier, that is a new one to me, nice model too.
But it is not the one i was referring to as that one is purely civilian.
I do like that model though

Hi Malcolm- would it be at all possible to scan and post the pictures from Chernobyl in that Russian magazine? Sounds very interesting!

Nice little Buratino!
The build looks very good! I also had plans to buy+build a kit and the conversion set, but perhaps my next kit will be the Jadar / 5 Star Models "2S6M Tunguska" in 1/35!
I will see, if I can get the kit!

greetings...

I'd have to violently disagree with this statement. After building the SKIF T-64, I left armor modelling for a while...the kit is a total dog and needs lots of aftermarket to bring it up to today's standards.

if you want to see what I did...look here:

other interesting vehicles based on T-64 chassis

MTU-64

BMP 64

MT-T truck

Regarding my old Dragon T-72, I'm thinking to use it as base for a
BREM-1

The only thing which I don't have to begin those projects is the must important....at the moment I don't have enough TIME...

Scott, you did a really stunning job with your Skif kit !
