Great vehicle.
Apparently, the Central European model makers are more daring than many Asian ones, who seem to stay more in the middle of the road. A great kit which reminds me of one of my first kits I started this hobby with some ages ago. Only in those days, if I remember right, Mr. H. was included, as well as all chrome parts.
Now, what will come for Christmas? One of the English standard guns and their haulers in the ETO?
Never mind, what ever comes, it will be a real surprise!

This kit

Nice model, but motorized, so it did not have drive train detail.

it's Balkenkreuz not Balkankreuz and in this case it's the iron cross (Eisernes Kreuz, Tatzenkreuz); and a picture:

It's the pennant of the supreme commander of the Heer. In this case Walther von Brauchitsch, 4. Februar 1938 - 19. Dezember 1941. Don't know if Hitler used it, I've only seen him using the pennant of the Reichskanzler.

If I remember correctly, the Radio Van version carried (apart from it's usual radios), Enigma machines - Division level secure communication . The official 'cover' was that these vehicles were used by Reich Post - something i'd find hard to believe.

Anyone throw any light on this?

the "Kraftfahrzeuge und Panzer der Reichswehr" book, written by Mr. Werner Oswald, isbn 3-87943-161-2, Oct 1975, shows on page -86- and forward some variants of this beautiful car. It shows a Reichspost vehicle with RP licence plates on page -90-. Also, some colour variants seem to have existed, next to white a gloss black one without any license plate is shown, occupied by Mr. H. This vehicle was armoured and has a larger engine. Type G4 (W31) with a BD M24, 5019 cc, engine and the type G4 (W131) with a DB M 124, 5252 cc, engine. According to rumours only one vehicle survived the war.
By the way: anyone familiar with a technique to get a real polished chrome grill? This seems to be the main feature of this vehicle.

Paul. there IS some hearsay evidence that the Soviets captured a number of these vehicles in Berlin - one was presented to s Senior Soviet commander. My thoughts? There are probably one or two sitting in some long-forgottwn warehouse somewhere...

Now THAT is pretty easy. Get hold of the foil which some aviation modelrs use - there are seceral sheets done specifically for car modelers. Can't remember the brand name at the moment...

Anyone?
