Aside from the different main gun, what are the other differences between these two?

not much apart from the obvious - different roles and one has been withdrawn from service!

Sandbox,
Maybe a little more than you wanted to know but here goes.
1. early Scorpion have different smoke launchers
2. different commander's sight cover and gunner's sight on Scorpion
3. some Scorpion hulls mated with Fox turrets to make Sabres. Might be out of service
4. Scimitars upgraded through Life Extension Programme(LEP) includes new SPIRE sight, engine and grills, and GPS equipment plus bin set
5. Scorpions in use by Spain and was used by New Zealand
6. Scorpion with 90mm Cockerill used by Malaysia
And saw a picture on Yahoo or Corbis that showed a Scorpion with a anti-Iran group in Iraq.

Thank you all. Bought an AFV Scimitar at AMPS/EAST on Saturday and have Bob Morrison's book.

Do a Yahoo search on 'Tom Rea Scorpion'. He mentions that the drive sprocket/hub needs to be moved in 1/8" so the track is not too tight. I did this on a couple of my CVRs but haven't test fitted the track yet. Maybe others have tried this already.

Here it is: AFV Scimitar
I have followed Tom's suggestion as well, but didn't try fitting the tracks yet.

Paul,
It's noted on the instructions for Castoff's Scimitar LEP conversion that the Sabre is indeed retired - they didn't think it wise to tinker even more with what was already a combination of a Fox turret and a Scorpion hull....
Cheers

Olaf,
Thanks for the update. Still a nice conversion from Castoff as is the LEP upgrade. I didn't read that part on the instructions. Have you started on the LEP yet?
