Hello everyone!
This is my latest project started a few days ago. It`s a Ukrainian MBT Oplot M developed by Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building in Ukraine. It is developed from Ukraine-made T84 which is developed from Russian T80 MBT. By my opinion, it is the most beautiful tank in the world!
I will make a conversion of it from Zvezda`s kit T80 UD. First i need to completely re-shape the turret because the turret of T80 is round, and the one on the Oplot M is more like hexagon... I removed some of the details not needed and then made the needed shape out of styren sheets 0.5 mm. It is well glued and next step is to cover the turret whit tamiya putty to cover the joints and also to get a texture, and this i will do tomorrow...
These are the pictures for now...
Please comment!
Greetings from Serbia!

Here is little update. I covered the turret with 4 layers of tamiya putty, then i sanded until i got wanted texture. And that is how you get yourself a nice new turret for your tank without buying expensive conversion sets. Its more fun this way too! Now that i have a good base, i can start building details. First, i made base for tank 360 observation optics on commanders hatch. I`ts not much, but i do small steps.
Sorry for bad pictures, my camera is just not good enough.

Thx for reply Andrij.
I have all photos of this model. I studied it very well, details on it are built very very good, but, he did not corrected the turret, it is out of the box from zvezda T80, so it is round. In the start model is not accurate, a for me, something like this is a major mistake and i am sure he could have done better.

A small progress... These are the tool boxes at the back of the turret. I am very pleased with the result.
Anyway, i have a little problem in terms of tracks. I used zvezdas OOB tracks for my previous build, a Serbian version of T90 so i dont have enough tracks parts for this model. I searched the on-line shopping sites and i found none spare tracks in sale for T80/T90 tanks, except some resin ones which i am not fan of, so if anyone knows where i could get these tracks, please post a link or something. I would be very grateful. Thx.
Anyway, here are the photos.
Best regards. Stefan

Hi Stefan,
It's a great and interesting subject, one of the coolest tanks in the world today i think, i will follow your build. But i want to ask you something, why do you using Zvezda instead of more dimensionally accurate Skif?

To be honest, my budget is very low, therefore my options are even lower. I had this one in my stock, so i sad what the heck.

I almost forgot, sorry about it
As for the aftermarket T-80 tracks, you can use Masterclub, SP Designs or new metal Sector 35. I don't know they have in stock but you can buy all of them in the following link:

or try this (my favourite):

They have in stock in here:
http://www.sockelshop.de/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=73_23_77_140_141&products_id=25504
I bought SP Designs track for my T-80 BV which came today, it's a bit flashy and has broken parts but generally a good track..

That's true...but we have to consider that final result will be very different from the original kit

Hi Mauro,
Zvezda's turret is one of the most inaccurate points in the kit, it is small than the original turret as i can see and as i red about under several topics in this forum.. On the other hand Oplot M's most converted and interesting point is also the turret, i hope the final result will be ok
But we have to live with it and also Stefan has to

And Stefan, there is not any plastic aftermarket track for T-80, at least i don't know about it. So you have to buy a resin one or more expensive and not proven white metal one.

T-72: Tamiya's T-72 is great but maybe Trumpeter or Academy, maybe..
T-80: I don't think anyone will do it, we have to do it as we know
T-84: Stefan doing right now and i think this will inspire a lot of people
T-90: I'm very patiently waiting Zvezda's

Well
T-72 Tamiya depicts a quite rare german version and has some inaccuracy. Furthermore, I don't know why, is quite hard to find....I hope Trumpeter will produce a T-72 family....but I'm quite tired of waiting
T-80....why in your opinion, nobody will produce a t-80 kit? Lots of modellers actually say that they want a new T-80 tool
T-84, yes that's it
T-90 Zvezda? Mhhhhh It seems to me that they're more interested in ww2 subjects...I still hope in a Trumpeter release
Anyway....we have just to wait
Cheers
