Seb Viale shares a first look into the M1070 Tractor and M1000 Trailer that will be released by Hobby Boss very soon, a huge kit in 1/35 scale. Get that disabled Abrams ready to be hauled away...

It looks like it will be a nice model, would this be the correct version to transport a Challenger 2 on?

Unfortunately not mate! the two trucks are very different when you compare them.

I can't wait for it to be available either. It looks great. It is kind of a let down about the seat belts. They look great on the AA version. I built the AA one a while back and am interested to see how else they compare.
I don't see how the two are connected, but...
What parts do you need? I have a bunch of Abrams spares and probably have them.

I have to say that I really appreciate HobbyBoss' efforts in tackling desirable 1/35 armor, especially modern subjects that we may have otherwise only seen in resin.
It seems that they still need a bit of refinement in the detail area based on your observations Seb. I noticed the same thing with the DANA and Wolf. There are areas of outstanding detail and kit engineering, and then there are a few areas where the refined detail is surprisingly lacking.
I love the approach HobbyBoss took with engineering the hood.
I can't tell you how much I dislike rubber tires, and the rubber boots as well. I have never seen the rubber used in armor kits hold up well over time, and I wish they were made from styrene instead. I'm sure there will be a nice resin wheel replacement set or two in the AM, but those get expensive which doesn't help with an already expensive (albeit very nice) kit. I'd honestly rather put that extra money into another kit.

We are sharing the same analysis on the overall attention to detail of HB.
Regarding the resin wheels, you can find already from Realmodel the wheels at 25 euros for 9 wheels
Regarding the dampers, we need to see the aging issue here.
For the trailer the wheels are very small so i dont think i can be a price issue here.
But i will prefer to have a resin engine for the beast.
I love to see a M1070 without bonnet on the M1000 trailer, what a nice dio idea

I agree with Jim on both accounts.
I bet AA comes out with an update set that includes their already made tires from their kit. It could also include the seat belts and resin air bellows.
I have had no issues with rubber tires and other parts. The key is to paint the plastic with a good enamel paint to put a barrier between the plastic and rubber. I have had kits like the Tamiya M26 Dragon Wagon for over 12 years and it has had no issues with the rubber tires.

A resin engine would be cool as well. AA's doesn't come with the engine either. I wonder how the CMK M939 5 ton engine would look in it? It's probably too small though. I'll have to check it out when it comes out and I get one.

you and me both Jim! Im thinking of what just the TWS replacement wheels for the Dragon Wagon costs...now tripple that!!
that said, I wonder who will be the first to chance it and release them in resin. Accurate Armour could modify thier wheels a bit and cash in further...
Imagine the Eduard sets that will come from this...or Voyager/ Griffon/ ET/ Lion Roar!

Around $150? A considerable bargain, when compared to what a single 1/48 aircraft can cost these days! So this is what is lurking in my Winter "things to do" pile......

I think that many PE parts missing or must rebuild. Interior is very poor. Missing PE instrument panels, buckles....
I build AA and this model included very good PE parts.
I have very good reference photos. Tractor and trailer. Of course engine.
I look forward to new work on this model

Ok Milo but you have to keep it simple at 150 euros the donor kit, if you starting to generate a upgrade kit at 50 euros plus 2 kit for the wheels at 40 in total. It is gonna pricey...
Engine will be great for a start

I can't believe it!I looked at this thread at first because I'm building an M-25 for the what if campaign.On my home from work today i was waiting in a construction roadblock and way up ahead in the other lane I saw a BIG TRUCK.!As I got closer I could see it was green.I couldn't stop,but as I went by I saw it was an M1070 and trailer!Must have been Nat. Guard.It was hauling a huge bulldozer(also green).I'v never seen one in my life.It was pretty cool,and very big.Life imitating armorama? Jeff

I'll second that. as far as AM, I think resin tyres set (for truck AND trailers) is a must. everything else is icing on the cake
I hope that there will be an option to just buy tyres but not an entire upgrade kit.
