Hi fellow modelers
Question does anybody know if the Yellow band applied for numbers around Barrel Tiger I 505 heavy battalion is a different yellow then tank color or same ,some books I have the color seems the same others appears to be different?
This was the only Battalion that I know that put numbers on Barrel and painted this band on some.
Thanks

In the pictures that I have seen, the number is painted over the base yellow of the vehicle. Some of the Tigers in the 505 had their barrels painted a darker shade of brown, with the recupricator housing painted in the base yellow. This makes the yellow where the numbers are painted look different than the base color.

First thanks for the replies I will just put them on and go with the flow.
I think it is late version the last before they took them in for the New Tiger II's (++) (++)

this could very well be a replacement or refurbishes tube. I could not give another feasible explanation.

The question about the darker gun tubes on Tigers has been discussed several times on M-L. The best two suppositions are that the lacquer used on those gun barrels darkens with heat or that the gun tube supplier used a different paint than the Tiger assembly plant and resulted in a darker looking gun tube.

Reason why I asked was the number I am using is from archer decal set and number they chose is seen in books number 312 and if you look at pictures barrel looks a different color in Panzer colors # 3 I think off hand. (++) (++) (++) (++)
