Hi folks,

Whilst I have seen reference and news to the new DML/Cyber Hobby 25pdr, one that seems to have been missed off the radar is the recently released Bronco 25pdr Field Gun and No 27 Ammo Limber.

I'm looking forward to building this one as the kit comes with early and late options. As Brocno have started to produce some Gun Crew figures, I heard tell of a Bofors Crew (?) and with Cyber hobby offering a desert type crew with their version here's a thoguht for a new NWE crew.

I believe these are troops of 430th Bty, 55 Field Regiment RA laying down fire support for the advance of the Guards Armoured Division.

Comment was made on the 17pdr gun crew, who I think are excellent, about them being a bit to prade like in dress, and as Resicast have already done a crew for the 1940's in jerkings and BD, perhaps Bronco would consider something very workman like for the order fo dress, if they intend to make a crew for their gun. This would also make the crew very useable in Italy/Sicily and it would still leave them the option of a desert style crew for the 17pdr Phesant!

I'll post up some pics of the kit in the coming days.

A Bird in the hand so to speak. I picked up the Bronco one for the paltry sum of $30 AUD which is a bargain for a kit of that detail. I was pleasantly surprised that it appears to have all the Pheasant parts included as well.
A highly recommended kit and I hope that the Bronco / Miniart cooperation results in a nice crew to suit.
Highly recommended

I am looking forward to seeing the Bronco offering in the flesh so to speak and for that matter the DML offering as well. As I now work on the 25pdr on a regular basis I am very interested to see how the two kits compare to the real gun.

Hi Al,

Absolutely, who knows when the CH kit may appear. I'd agree, first look would indicate this is a cracking kit.

Hi Darren,

Yip, you're now officially elected as our resident 25pdr expert BTW, would you have any pics of the tool stowage on the shelf on the 27 Limber?

Cheers

Al

They are always covered with canvas Alan unless in use, but I can supply pictures of the canvas in place if you wish. As you already have the Bronco kit does it have both types of ammo rack in the box? It was I am told mixed in the limber as crews had their own preferred type and switch them at every opportunity.

Hi Al,

I just bought the Bronco 25 pdr kit, while very pleased with it I also found i had the barrel sprue for the 17pdr pheasant but not the howitzer barrel. My LHS gladly sorted the problem out but I would check the box contents again just in case as I think the error was made at the factory.
Can't wait to build it though & hoping Bronco will bring out a tractor unit to match!

Cheers, AndyC

Hi Darren,

I have only peeked in the box so far so can't say.

Hi

Andy,

I have the correct Barrels in the kit, no Phesant additions that I've spotted yet.

OK off for some pics.

Cheers

OK folks, some pics of the kit.

Hi Darren, you get to trees of ammo and ammo containers, both look the same.

Depending on how well this builds up, and avalability of crew I can easily see several more being created!

Cheers

Alan can you scan the instructions for the ground plate please. I have spotted a couple of omissions but nothing drastic, and most I suspect are because of the limitations in using injection moulding. I have to say that the rivet counters (no insult intended) will be pleased as what I have checked so far is spot on count and placement wise.

Hi Darren,

Thanks for the pics, will do on the instructions. BTW are their any old WW2 ammo boxes around your store? If you come across any, a few pics would be good there too .

Catch you later.

I will check the dates on the ammo boxes and get back to you. All I have found so far adrift is some bolt detail missing on the gunshield (that may be corrected during construction but I don't know for sure) and the lip around the top inner face of the ground plate is missing, which I believe is down to using injection moulded plastic.

I see that they've also separated the muzzle brake counterweight from the barrel. The Bishop kit had it permanently attached, I believe, so this is a great indication that our suggestions for corrections do get to the right people.

Morning Paul,

The tree for the Bishop is exactly the same as this one, the only difference being that it is in grey pastic.

.

Hi folks,

Boy but time flies by. I thought it had been a while since I started this but not quite so long ago

Anyway as I want to build the Bishop I thought a little progress might be in order.

A lot of small bits in this one.

Darren if you read this have you got the link to your excellent build blog? Couldn't find it.

You get a choice of 2 types of gun slide so check you references for what you want to build.

I've opted for the more studded type as I wanted an early gun around 1940/1941 and this style seems to have been in play then.

The gun barrel slides, so you can choose whatever position you want the gun in.

Hi Darren,

That's probably why I couldn't find it - looking for the wrong thing

I've opted for the early version without the counter weight and muzzle break.

Out of interest do you know when the differences in the gun slide came into being. The studded version seems to appear from 1938 onwards so I'm assuming the smoother type came later in the war?

Cheers

Hi All

Bronco has given us a real dandy series with these kits.
The pounders, the Bishop or as I have done with the combo build I have underway.

I know you'll enjoy your projects as much as I have.

Morning Tony,

Impressive build of the Bishop so far. You should post up a build blog as you've done some sterling work there.

Back to the 25 pdr. I've been working on the gun sight. This is a mini kit in itself There are 18 small plus parts in this plus PE and whilst I though working with the Wellbikes had small parts this is a build of patience in extreme.

The detail is terrific but this is not a kit for the faint hearted. My concern is that if any are mis-alligned then the result could be less than satisfactory

Cheers

Al
