Hi Folks. Well here is some pics of the trailer for the Federal Tracter unit I am doing. This kit gave no end of problems to build with the high sides causing the most trouble. I had these on and off 4 times and as you can see had to modify them to get them right and also I had to strengthen them on the inside, hence the reason for a full tarp rather then a load of 44 gallon drums. The tarp is a rag which was stretched over cling rap put around the trailer first. It was then pinned in the corners to the shape I wanted and a mixture od white glue and water soaked into it. The tie downs are thin brass wire. these are the last pics before painting of this and the tractor unit commence.
Comments welcome.

Nice litle trailer you have here #:-)
Just one question, why did you use copper wire ? and not the real stuf thats have some detail?
Maybe a option? that you make some detail in the copper wire so thats its look better inthe end.
But i must say its looking good

MrRoo,
Looks good so far - could I suggest that you make the wire a bit tighter as it looks to slack. The tarp looks like it is held down tight but that is not reflected by the tension in the wires.
You could try something like nylon thread which has a good twist and is 'non hairy' or some fine twisted wire like the Karaya stuff.

Looks good Lord Roo :-)
The canvis top should look great after painting. The wires might be better rpllaced by fishing line, maybe.
Can't wait to see the finished product

well folks after looking at the replys and reviewing my work in daylight I too have come to the conclution that the wire ties do not work so I will be replacing them with some crochet cotton I stole from, ah I mean 'found' in my wifes sewing box. It is the right diameter and is twisted like rope and is not 'furry'.
Thanks for the comments.

Oh my god, this is awesome build and scratch building. Roo, I am real impressed. Geez, I am glad this UOM thing is not based on modeling skills, or I would have to surrender mine to ya.
Good work!
