@DaGreatQueeg - Brent,

Thanks for the kind words. I presume that many modellers have some potential gems partially built and lying forlorn in some forgotten box. I have at least six that have been waiting patiently waiting for some attention. This one took almost five years to see daylight. the key word I feel is persistance.

@firstcircle - Matthew,

Jan, so you were seen clipboard in hand, eh? Can we assume that you were judging non-braille classes in that case?

Mathew, I have yet to judge anything Braille or vehicular at a show. Indeed, I and my SWMBO have been stereotyped as being figure judges. In most cases it’s all about finishing (painting) and this can be most intense.

In my view your finish on this model shows yet further refinement of your own style, and very nice it is too. It seems to me that, with the assistance of a certain, um, muse, you have developed something of a unique method. Some people have written books around that, you know.

Finishing is an ongoing learning process of experimentation and yes, a certain muse is a merciless task master. Thank you for the compliments but I have not settled on a universal technique that covers all subjects to be able to write a definitive volume on a process.

@Biggles2 - Leo,

Shame on you! CapCon is almost always held in late August or September. This year it will be on September 26 I believe.

My reference to a show was Hamilton’s HeritageCon 9 (always held at the end of winter). This year there were quite a number of entrants from a Montreal club, one of which won eight medals and two Honourable Mentions.

Cheers,
Jan

@tread_geek – Jan,

Five years . . . has it been that long ago? Jan, beautiful job! It always feels good for me when I complete a build especially when it comes out better than I had anticipated it would and yours sure looks good, you should be feeling very happy with the results and proud too!

Since my last posting here on your blog I have added this piece to the pile, have no idea when I will put it on the workbench? I also agree that it’s quit inspirational so I hope my rendition will come out a little bit as good as yours. I like the stowage you’ve added to the vehicle, gives it that lived in on the road look that are seen in books featuring these vehicles in action. You also did a good job on the weathering and bringing out the wood grain on both the inside and outside of the vehicle (a little side line guidance at home always does wonders, hihi ).

Thank you for taking the time to finish the model and to post it here again . . . was wondering what had happened to this build? Now we know!

Embarrassingly it did take that long. You know how it goes! You run into one roadblock after another and lose interest for a while and need to get away from things. I will also confess that this isn’t my longest work in progress. That “honour” currently resides with a 1/72 Dragon M2A3 Bradley with a scratch built interior. I’ll take some pictures and post that in a separate thread in the future. ;-)

Thanks for your interest and I hope that I can say that I’m on a finishing roll. I have three others in the motor pool to hopefully be completed before the next show in April.

Cheers,
Jan
