so, I finally got some new pics.. just to prove I haven't stopped modelling after all... things have been going slow over the past few months though...
meanwhile I have even taken the time for detail painting, applying decals and some basic weathering on 'disturbing the peace'.. couldn't get any proper pics due to some interference with my cammy and my lighting set up though...
more pics to come as soon as I figure out what's up with my light bulps...
Cheers, Max

I know I'm a little late to the thread, but about the antenna (the one you referred to as convex I beleive) is the AS-3916 Antenna Base, used with a solid one piece steel whip antenna. These antenna bases usually have a small curved metal shield that protects the antenna base as well, and are used on vehicles equipped with the TOW Missle system. This antenna configuration is slightly less effective than the more common AS-3900 Antenna Base (the one you called the "Socket type"). The As-3900 has a two piece fiberglass antenna, and provides greater range and clarity than the AS-3916. Just another little tool for your tool kit.

Howdy Max, nice work and great to see you back up on the net. Now you need to build an M88A2 and put Prom Queen's left front ballistic skirt on the spade.

thanks guys!
SSgt: thanks for the input. if you look closely you can see that I've used a AS-3900 base now. found another pic showing that base as the FO/AC antennae mount. eventually there'll be a sleeping mat wrapped around it however...
Chris: just updated the post.
Mike: thanks. yeah an M88 is somewhere on my to-do list. not in the near future though.. lets see maybe there'll be a plastic version out once I'll get to it..
Cheers, Max

Very nice tanks Max, is Prom Queen the original tank on your table? Do you know someone that perfect scale planing to make the pearson plow seperate? I need one pearson plow for a Task Force Tarawa Abrams. Right now i build on a Abrams that had atached the Dozerblade.

Yo Max !
Nice work ... is the camo M1 the "old" Dragon kit ? Since you are doing such a fine job it's getting hard to tell the difference !!!
But my friend you are not the only one on this front.
A-stan in the works:
And the "Dozer" :
Must say that PMS upgrade kits really make life easier ... nice and crisp !
Haven't progressed on my ABV started on the AMX 30 in the meanwhile,
great plastic kit btw. !
Please enjoy and suffer
Cheers

Howdy Sascha, you can obtain the styrene Pearson Blade and four additional welded hull mounts from the Trumpeter Challenger II KFOR kit # 00345( http://www.amazon.com/Trumpeter-Challenger-KFOR-action-Kosovo/dp/B003MU9WWC ). The Blade that the USMC fielded in A-stan is the Blade, Direct Fit M-1 that uses the Abrams existing tow hook mount eyes. Nice work on your part too Chris, especially keeping the Delta Co chevrons pointed in the right directions!

Sasha, which plow do you mean? AFAIK TFT used both systems the FWMP and the TWMP. the pearson FWMP, as used on the M1 ABV, is currently still in the works. can't tell you anything bout a release-date though. there have been some issues with the 3D print so it required some retooling...
The TWMP won't be released in the near future since you can pick up a trumpeter kit with that plow for around 15 bucks. so a resin version couldn't compete with that..
will you be using the PSM dozer or the one from the trumpy kit?
Chris, I got one word for you: awesome!
yeah, the nato-flaged one is the old dragon kit... but honestly I'll stick to my AIM kits in the future... no more messing around with these antiquated kits for me...
seeing that AMX turret in the back. you won't do it in that awkward sand camo the french sport, will you?

Thankx Max !
I'll make the AMX 30 in NATO-camo.
I just sprayed it sand to check the texture I applied since the overall kit has a smooth surface.
But my main efforts lay with the A-stan M1 at the moment.
I'll keep you posted.
Cheers
Christopher
Btw... thinking of fitting the "ARMY" exhaust deflector instead of the deep wading adaptor ... already got one on the "Dozer".

Chris, yeah, I remember, texture.. looking forward to seeing that one done! same goes for the A-stan version, gotta get a move on on mine too... apart from all my side projetcs.. adds up to about eight right now...
Sasha, yeah, that's what I suspected. AFAIK the plows didn't make it across the boarder, they were left behind in kuwait (at least that goes for 1st tanks. not completely shure 'bout TFT though)
however that plow is still in the works... I'll see if I can get some info about the current state of developement tormorrow...
Cheers, Max

Hey Max
Do you know what kind of antenna is mounted to the side of this M1 ?
Copied the image you sent me with the stretcher ... thinking of fixing the above mentioned device on the other side.
Thankx + Cheers
