Started work on the Turret this Morning and Desert Fox You were right this is alot easier and faster (Putting together as much as you can then painting)

Havent weathered it yet But im liking how it looks

The Antenna is Stretched sprue (2nd try at stretched sprue first one was way to thick)
The Color is Model Master Acrylic Olive Drab and isnt as green as in the pictures.
This is one great kit
Now I Have to work on the Hull and tracks then decals and weathering. I dont think ill try whitewashing on this one.

Dave,
That is looking very good, I too find it easier to build as much as you can first then paint.
By the way do yo use an air brush?

Yep I use a Airbrush. I Use a Testors one that was pretty cheap which is just a weird thing that goes ontop of the Testors Air Bottles and has a hook for the paint.

Howell,

Looking good. Although I don't like Sherman too much, but you are doing a good job. Keep them coming.

well done Dave,
Looking good. Looks like the OD colour is right on!
You might want to invest in some Mr SURFACER to make the turret appear more pitted?
Great effort!

Good advise martin. You are among some very good modelers here on the site, and your advise has been/is very very insightful. Thanks a lot!

You da man. How's the Famo build you had initiated? Old man, I still have a Famo with trailer waiting to be built thanks to ya.

SS-74 Dave,
Still have the Famo. Just bought the FAMO 18t Military Machine book to go with it.
Will have to put this on hold for a little while, am in the midst of buying a new house.
Fingers crossed for us please!!!!!

Once it is finished, it will be the most super-detailed model yet!

Looking great Dave :-)
The OD looks right on and the rust is excellent ... super!
The paint job looks pretty good. How do you like the new AB, looks like it did a nice job. I take it that it's an external feed?
The antinna thickness looks good, but it looks a bit off center.

Keep us posted on the build. Again, awesome weathering and rust so far. Wll you share how you did it?
If the rest ends up looking this good, then you are the man!

P.S. I nominate you ... "Lord Rust"

The Wash was MM Acrylic Leather and MM Acrylic Flat Black (maybe 5 drops of Leather and 1 drop of Flat black) Mixed with MM Thinner (10 drops I think) Then the model was washed with a brush after the Gloss coat and decals were applied.

Then the Rust was made by taking normal MM Leather on a very fine rust and painting the areas where rust would be then brushed over with a clean brush.
then After all the weathering I did the Flat coat.

And Lord Rust sounds kinda nice.

looks nice, also the weathering is well done, but I think the white star is too shiny, generally the crew tone down the stars colours because are a perfect view-finder for who shoot

Dav,I agree with the antenna being off center on its spring base.As for texturing the turret,I too use liquid cement.I brush it on and give it a moment to soften the plastic. Then I use a STIFF bristled OLD brush to poke and poke the surface over and over to give a VER Y rough surface. Then I let it dry for a day or 2 and then go back with medium sandpaper and smooth it down slightly..

the first pic in the second set it seems that some silvering occured on the star.. maybe it's just the light. other that that and the offset antenna, it looks great. love the rust effect.
