No, it is definately post WW2. Can't see an air cleaner or exhaust stack so probably 2 1/2 ton chassis.

Definitely looks like a M54/M800 series 5-ton truck... The first models appeared in 1951 (M39 series trucks).
On some variants, like the M812 below, the fuel tank is on the right and the air filter is on the other side (just like in the posted picture above):
It seems that remains of the vertical exhaust pipe can be seen between the door and the fender...

My first impression was that it is a 5 tonner based on the apparent size of the tank mounted, but since I could not see a exhaust stack decided to call it a 2.5 ton.
When I first read your post I was going to comment that I thought you were mistaken, but you edited your post. You could be correct about the remains an exhaust on the right. Hard to tell.
But I do now think that it is most likely a 5 ton truck.

Hey guys ,,Thats a 5 ton M54 ,, the tire alone give the game away ..they are alot bigger and ballooned than the 2.5 ton series and the then ya take alook at the size of the cad in relation to the size of the tires ..yup its an M54 for sure

thanks for the replys the truck is rigged up with some kind of compressor on the rear and has a hose run to the cattle trough, pic is a bit small my cell phone camera is not so good.
