I'm currently building a jagdtiger. When I was looking on the internet for some reference photo's I found this picture:

http://pictures.panzerworld.net/PzkpfwVI-Jagdtiger/Jagdtiger17.jpg

Because I had never seen a marking like that one, I started to look for it on the internet but I coudn't find it.

Is there someone that can tell me what it means?

I'm stumpped on that one Henri. I just looked in my Squadron/Signal book on Markings of the German Panzer Forces and didn't find that one in there. I'll check some of my other reference books and let you know if I find anything.

its got me stumped, although your right about the symbol for berlin mikeli125 thats not it, the symbol for berlin was more upright and bear like the symbol in the picture is more teddy bear like. perhaps it could be a squadron symbol?

I think those are Russian soldiers in the pic, could this possibly be something the Russians painted on the Jagdtiger after they captured it?? Just a thought.

You guys sure it isn't a Jadgtigger? From the 12th Pooh div that helped defend the 100 acre wood?

Sorry, couldn't help it. That bear looks like Winnie the Pooh to me...

Looks like a GI and a Russian soldier. I think this vehicle belonged to the ultra secret WaffenTeddyRuxpin.

On April 29, 1945 four Jagdtigers were issued to crews from s.PzJgAbt 653 and ordered to counterattack advancing Soviet forces. By the time they reached the front the Soviets had already broken thru so they turned around and retreated. Later the 3 surviving JT's surrendering to the Soviets and Americans at Strengberg, Austria. The crews had each painted a cartoon character on their Jagdtiger for identification. They can be seen on the three JT's but only the toy bear is identifiable by the photo of the US and Soviet soldier on the vehicle.

That photo appears in William Auerbach's 'Last of the Panzers' (Tanks Illustrated series, Arms & Armour Press). According to him, the picture shows the link up beween US and Soviet forces. I don't know what the bear represents, but it probably isn't a unit marking.
