Guys,

Is there any talk of a 1/35 scale M-24 Chaffee in our future? AFV Club or Tamiya/Dragon?

TIA

Bronco announced one some time ago. Both a British and American version. The news articles are on the site already. Here is another though -

I'm sure the release dates were mentioned in the articles on this site though. Do a search for em.

AFV Club too annonced a Chaffee for "soon" to be release.

I hopes that one of the models will be in Indochina version!

1/35 Chaffees already exist!

Esci produced one some time ago, which was later reboxed by Italeri. Italeri
also did a separate vetsion of this kit with some additions in order to make an early Chaffee. Italeri have just reissued both kits.

Granted Bronco should make a better Chaffee, but the esci/italeri kit still provides a decent base with a range of aftermarket available.

Thanks Mandrake, but if the photos of the kit breakdown from Bronco are what we are going to get, I'll wait for that one..

Cheers

Formations had an almost complete resin M24 model (just the wheels from the Italeri tank were needed). Unfortunately, Formations is no more. Possibly this up-date kit is still available from vendors who still have Formations stock.

Two things: the Formations kit is an upgrade for the Italeri kit. However, the builder would still need to source Fruil tracks. Given this, it's no longer a viable alternative given the Bronco release (which I saw listed for pre-order at about US$55). Formations is now handled by JTR Hobby/Formations in Canada.

www.jtrhobby.com

I highly doubt they would maintain the M24 offering though -- it's simply been eclipsed.

BTW: I'm finishing up the Formations kit + Fruil track set. Just my luck, eh?

The Italeri kit is not an ex ESCI mould as Esci never did any 35th Allied Armour despite previewing some interesting items (none of which was a Chaffee) in their last catalogues.
The latest re,re, re release of this kit offers a Metal gun barrel and Link to length Styrene WW2 tracks.
Personally I am waiting for the Bronco one but if you can't wait.

Adams or Renwal also offered an M24 at one stage in the 60's but it may have been 1/40th. testors offered reboxed Italeri ones (the original release with post war tracks and features). later italeri Releases had Late WW2 features.
