This is the Tamiya M1A1with a few modifications . It is based on the tank that i used during maneuver training this year.
A pic of the real tank ,i got the idea for the eyes from the DML M1A1 kit .
A before ground work pic
over view of the tank
left hand side of tank
The base where we train is part of a national forrest, so we are limited as to what we can and can't do with our tanks . This is not a real sign , just my own little statement
#:-)
The tank commander is me , yes i did paint my CVC that way . EVERY ONE knew when C-13 was comming down the road - just look for the yellow CVC .
This is a close up of the eyes on the model . Well hope ya'll like it !

Must be cool making dios of your experiences Carlton. They're a lot more than photos: they're 3-D representations of life. To top it all, you have the skill and the patience to do justice to them. I'm green with envy

CPT Turrettoad13, just as BG Jeepney said making dio from real events are a 3d recording of it is far better then photos. I agree completely. In fact for the past year or so, the models and dio I've been building have been based on my live experiences with 21 plus years in the US Army. In fact, my next one will be a M151A2 Tow Jeep firing the missile for the up coming "Under Cover" campaign.
Also, a job well done. Keep up the good work

That is a hell of an idea. I cannot believe it. It is so cool that it should be in a catagory all by itself.
Very cool stuff!

Hey TT. I like it. While I am not into modern armor I admire the skills you show when building the models plus I am envious of your ability to have a real 'toy'

Toadman (tm),
Most impressive!!! Nothing beats life experience I guess. The dio is very well done, and the sign (tm) cracks me up on so many different levels (Copyright, 2003, Dave).
Your skill in painting, and building are again evident in this master piece (tm)

Very cool. Well composed, well executed. Nice.
I am very impressed with the ground work, creative and non-standard. I like it.
It is really cool to tie it to reality too.

Toadster:
As usual ---impressive.
The last pic is a prize winner---it looks like the real deal, and that's what we all strive for in modeling. Wow!

Love the dio! Just one admonition, TC. Where's your third point of contact?!?!
Love the CVC...I had a gunner who rigged a Navy flight helmet for use in the tank.

Thanks to everyone for the comments . I found something i allways seem to miss on a m1 - the loaders M-240 skate - it is still the turret color I hate it when that happens.
ANDY : Yes i re-did most of the non-slip at least the parts that looked really bad , i used baking soda the 2 nd time
M-60A3 : "3 RD point of contact " I knew some one would nail me on that ! Yes i know that is very wrong - but i did it any way - both real world and in the dio #:-) I was trying to see over the hill and had to get to the higest point on the turret - the .50 cal. mount - not the smartest thing i have ever done .
glad ya'll like it TOAD - 13 OUT
