MasterBox have very kindly sent us news of their latest work in progress, and it’s a BIG surprise offering. Unlike most of the offerings from MasterBox this is not a figure set or an armoured fighting vehicle, so take a look inside to see this exciting offering.

Glad to see this project wasn't cancelled... it will make a beautiful centerpiece in many HUGE dioramas

Well done

Looks like a gorgeous model....unfortunately the wallet and lack of space will not allow me to buy this one. Masterbox is really moving ahead of other manufacturers. When I was living in Germany at the end of the cold war we were getting a few kits from Poland like the 7TP from RPM (Spjonia I think was the name of the original manufacturer). Now Eastern European manufacturers produce some of the most interesting, well engineered and innovative kits available. Things have changed so much in the space of 20 years.

Hmmm... I might have to build this just have something with wings to take to our IPMS meeting. Just about the only way you can get any love from those guys.
Of course, there's always that Operation Deadstick diorama...

Y'know, if they were really smart, they'd offer the part of the glider forward of the wings as a separate kit to those of us who don't want an entire Horsa, but would pay for the front part for our dioramas and bases.

Or
maybe (hint) a few of us could get together and share pieces. I've always wanted to scratchbuild a wing section, I'm sure someone else could use the other wing. Then there's the tail section. Kind of like Thanksgiving...

It would make an interesting group build for a club-each member gets a section and has to build a dio around it

Well there you go. Now someone smarter than I am can get the ball rolling. You could probably swing a dead can and hit at least ten guys...

Nice to see this one not go the way of the peverbial dead end. Now let me figure what I'll have to sacrifice to get one. Fine job M.B., pics look great.

cool, how big was that one?
67ft long, 88ft wingspan. So, just under 23" (58cm) long with a 30" (76cm) wingspan.
With this coming and the Italeri Vosper MTB and the HobbyBoss M1070 just out, it's not a good time to not have the money or shelf space for big kits

I agree it's a good idea about producing full kits and smaller sections. Space means I could only really go for the latter. Great idea and a great kit.

Wow
This is a beast .
I thought building a 1/32nd scale TBF Avenger was a challenge ,this takes the cake.I gotta have one.Huge as it may be .I think I'll have expand the model room to take it.
hang it from the roof of the model room and appreciate the size .
The glider's will not be appreciated at any model comps ,just think of the table space they will take up,

While it's great to see this moving ahead I must admit to being a little confused as MB call it a Mk.I but it appears to be a Mk.II but with the Mk.I's single nose wheel.

Hi
For those of you who only want part of the glider there is already one on the market from Great North Roads.
http://www.greatnorthroads.co.uk/accessories/accessories.php?93 Some images of it used in a diorama.
http://www.greatnorthroads.co.uk/gallery/index.php No doubt though when the Masterbox complete one makes it onto the shelves its going to create a lot of interest.

What a let down.It seems that Masterbox does not know the difference between the horsa mk.I {as 51} and mk II {as 58}
Difference is;
MK I; Large side door for loading ,no pivoting nose/cockpit. Single nose wheel.
MK II; 1 foot longer and higher as MK I. no large side door but instead pivoting nose/cockpit and double wheeled nosewheel, different cockpit interior.
Shape of the nose and windows are very different between the mk I and II.
Masterbox has mated a MK II fuselage with MK I interior and nosewheel
Aftermarket guys are gonna have a ball on this one if Masterbox does not fix this cockup!!!
As it is now maybe with aftermarket stuff it can be made into a MK II.
Stupid mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on now, it's not even in plastic yet and already it's a failure?
Hopefully M/B will look at your criticism as constructive, not as whinging and then alter their CAD drawings to create a more accurate image.

Hi Shane
you are correct offcoarse! I let myself go a bit but i geuss.Masterbox must be commended on going forward on this project!
I had given up hope untill the pictures were published and than was dissapointed.
But understand I have had a 1/35 Horsa on my wanting list ever since as a kid i saw the costum made Horsa's on display at Hartenstein airborne museum.
But i have also contacted Masterbox with these remarks and today was informed by the director that the mistakes in the pictures have been noted and are probably deu to Masterbox planning both mk I and II types.
Regards
Johan
