I have just one pic of this gun, showing one GI swabbing out the gun barrel, and another GI stacking ammo. Does anybody have access to more pics and info on this SP gun? Especially would like to know what outfit it was with, and what happened to it? TIA

I have since found out that the picture of Laxative was taken in 1944 near the town of Barenton in Normandy, but north of the town near road D36. It was apparently attached to the 2nd Armored division.

Yes that's an interesting vehicle. BTW, just to be succinct, it's the M8 75mm Howitzer Motor carriage (HMC)

I just found a picture of this gun with no hedge cutter, and a note that "Normandy tactical numbers" were painted over, on the way to the breakthrough to the Seine River. There is now a star in place of the big 3-9 on the side, which another picture (a painting of the "laxative") shows is in yellow.

Do you have any pictures that you could show us, or point us to where we can find the pictures?

2Nd AD vehicles had large yellow tactical numbers on the side for the Normandy Campaign. This number is the bumper number of the vehicle. The “3” could very well be a “B” as the bumper code B-9 would indicate the 9th vehicle of Company B.

Do you want/need photos of the M8's in general, or ONLY that particular vehicle?

I did a build-log on my M8 HMC. Maybe it could be useful... https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/162879#1367839

It's a cool little vehicle. Good luck with it.

All set for pics of Laxative now, and m8's in general. Have three photos and a color painting of Laxative. Will start work on it soon when I get a dio of a British 2 pounder anti tank gun done.

Laxative made it to the push for the liberation of Paris, and hopefully lasted for the rest of the war.

Did you find photos of the interior? Those were the hardest for me, and obviously it's quite visible.

Jesse--No photos of the interior. I will just crib from pics of others--kinda generic.

After looking at the pictures, it defiantly looks like a 2nd or 3Rd armored division vehicle.

The tactical numbesr have me puzzled, and will have to dig into some research.
