This release from Italeri is not really a part of our genre of the hobby however due to it being a 1/35th scale kit I felt this boat kit from Italeri should be covered here. Take a look inside to see why Italeri is all at sea and what possibilities this may present those of you interested in dioramas.

I am eagerly awaiting mine to arrive from Lucky Model and have acquired two of Accurate Armours Naval 20 mm and mountings to do a later version. This looks to be a fantastic kit but I have reservations over the Vickers 50 cals which appear to be .303 and well undersize for .50's but that could just be me.
A very welcome release as will be (hopefully) the RN crew that is sure to follow.
well done Italeri

I am an armor person but I find these 1/35 boat and plane kits really interesting. I'll probably get the German E-boot sometime in the future. Italeri has come a long way with it's innovative releases. I really like what they are doing.

This is excellent News. I started building for this one when i first heard about it. Like Al awaiting arrival of the kit but from SB Models and I too have the AA 20mm in place and ready to go.
I've built 3 of their 1/35 scale craft, the LCVP, LCM3 and M.A.S. Boat and thoroughtly enjoyed each one. The ELCO boat is in the pending pile and I'm delighted to see a Briish MTB becoming available. I do hope they continue their small craft range, it would be great to see a new LCA or LCL(P) or (R) and and the smaller of the LCT ships.
Their is a discussion thread over on Shipwrights if anyone is interested.

Bravo, Darren, for outside-the-box thinking.
Many of us live in alternate realities-- er, I meant genres-- I have two 1/72nd scale subs (one on the workbench, another in the stash), and am a propeller-head, so I welcome crossovers like this. The Vosper is such a staple of WW2, and Italeri got high marks for their PT boat in 1/35th.

Al (Bowie)
Could you measure the kit Vickers .50s?
According to the NavWeapons site the gun length was about 35 inches which would equate to about 1 inch(?) in 1/35 scale.

Hi Tom, mine hasn't arrrived yet but I'm sure the other Al could measure it. When i look at the pictures it just looks a bit on the small side for a vickers 50 particularly in the dia of the cooling jacket, barrel and the reciever. Regardless this is a very welcome release. I have the scale plans in the Coastal Forces book and a few other references so will check when mine arrives after Christmas (I picked surface mail as I'm working over the break and can wait - just)
Cheers

Hi Tom,
I'll measure it when I get home this evening, if no one else drops the info in first.

Hi Tom,
The length of the MG is 30mm this excludes the handles and flash supressor.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Alan,
I've been looking at the sprue shots on your post over on MSW.
Maybe the cooling jacket looks a little thin.
Looking at pics of the weapon on NavWeps site...
One looks thick (second pic, quad DD mount) but another looks thin (cropped first pic)
Positively a head scratching moment.

Hi ton,
Here's a picture of the .5 inch turret
I have another picture but not on line of Sailors carrying the guns and size wise the kit ones look reasonably OK.

Interesting comparison between the Vickers' and Browning weapons. The Vickers must be about half as long.
I'm still debating where to put one (If I did this kit I'd HAVE to get the S-Boat for a comparison), and I've only got one not-so-cute child for sale

.
There are a couple of terrific builds of the S Boat on Shipwrights, but it's not one I'm drawn towards.
