The figures in this set really looks like they're in action, which is really cool and something I don't think there is enough of. Too many kits of figures just standing there or resting. I just wish all manufacturers would stop feeling the need to have one figure pointing in almost every figure set where there is some action. Especially since, I believe, this is an indirect fire artillery piece.

Erm - the crew with the Dragon 25pdr are shirtless, desert based and in completely different poses...

The Bronco team is well dressed for ETO operations. The Dragon guys are stripped for North African circumstances. (By the way: the Dragon guys could have been looking at the old Tamiya guys for the dress code!)
Well done, Bronco. You opened the way for ETO gun crews. The 8", the 155 mm gun, 25 pounder, all of them had English or England allied' crews.
I am going for a Prinses Irene Brigade (Dutch) crew, trained by the 5th Filed Training Regiment (UK) in Northern Wales!

Yes, the gun is a 25pdr but the crew are completely different.

Jonathan,

the 25pdr could be used in a direct fire role if necessary. Check the data half way down on ammunition

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordnance_QF_25_pounder. so lower the barrel and away you go!

Ken; Alex is entitled to an opinion even if we fail to see the connection as this is a figure release not a 25pdr release, however even on that score the Bronco offering is readily available and I have not seen anything of the DML offering as yet other than pictures. I will happily say I look forward to the DML release but that is for another thread.

The Crew look nothing like Dragons and the Gun is a differnet mark of 25 pdr. Unlike the DML one it has been available for months.
This is a very welcome addition to the range of Allied figure sets. With little or no modification these could be used for crews on almost all Commonwealth Arty or SPG's including Bishops and priests in Tunisia and Italy. A mix and match with the 17 pdr crew will give a very action oriented crew for your 17 pdr.

Just one small point gents - British - NOT English. It is the British Army and NOT the English Army. That's before we start looking at Commonwealth troops and those equipped by them.

Using the word British was not intended to be offensive!
I should have known better!
But having made the British / UK mistake, I still stick to my opinion that Bronco's crew offers many opportunities.
And about the pointing officer: the 25 pounder was used in so called batteries, a number of guns, operating as one single unit. The pointing guy therefore was most likely a NCO. Normally, his position would normally be behind the gun and its crew to keep total overview. On that spot, he could clearly hear and transfer the commands of the battery officer.
