It's nice to be a good influence on someone finally!:D
I like the build. The sealant looks good and to scale. Take a deep breath and paint a tiny rectangle around the smoke mortar on the turret. They usually sealed that as well. I cheated and used a small piece of tape, then just brushed around it, but I was working in 1/35th scale.

The little hole in the turret roof on the left, toward the front. Right next to the loaders periscope. The hole in the middle of the turret is where the spotlight was mounted. It had a screw on cap when the spotlight was removed.

James, sorry I missed out on this one so far. Great details you've added! I really dig all the mods you've made and the sandbags look spot on!
Two comments: I don't think the road wheel would hold with just that strap, it would either require a special mounting device (welded to the hull, as in the old Tamiya M4 kit) or a steel bracket. Also, it would probably fall out the sides from the vibration and other movement of the tank.
From period photos it looks like Iwo was quite a dusty place, so maybe a bit more dust weathering?
Cheers and keep up the great work!

I love it! Great little detail put into it. I still can't believe it wasn't primed . For that front spare wheel maybe you could just cut a small styrene square to place over the hole to act as a weld fastener like this

More dust?! Okay it could be a lot lighter. i feel the shading on the sandbags could be exaggerated a bit more. I'll up my Ref pic for the wheel, but i agree, maybe i missed something on the photo.
