She is done, after about a month. Finally I am done with this beast. Actually it was a pretty good kit. Good detail. Tamiya-1/35. Old kit to. Kill marks on barrel were hand painted.
Let me know what you think!

Chip, looks great.
I've considered doing one of these. How was the build?

Looks really nice. One question ( and I am by no means an expert) Should not the kill marks be painted to circle the barrel? If I recall thats how Ive always seen them. The tires could use some weathering..Otherwise bang up job!

The build was great. Not really any problems. Everything went together like a dream.
The kill marks, interesting story behind those. I figured that in the field a crew wouldn't have very much time to site and paint nice pretty marks. So i did them crappy, and in a manner that gives the viewer the illusion that the painter was standing on the back trailer hitch, straining to put the marks on. Thus they are painted a little twords the bottom of the barrel.
The tires, yeah I could weather then, but that would be more work, and I have more important things to do than that. I.E. Mid Pro Tiger! :-)
Thanks again!

Hi mate. Sorry but to me the unweathered tyres spoil what is an extreamly good built and painted model.

It looks good Chip! The only thing I'll do is to give a bit more worn look to the tires...

Great job chip
Lovely weathering - especially on the shield. Now dirty those tyres up and you've got a winner !

Excellent Work Chip!
It's funny I remember building this kit when I was 12.... 30 years ago!!! It's amazing the quality that Tamiya was at then (compared to the Monogram's Revell's and Aurora's of the world!)...
But then with Tamiya, if you eyed a kit that wanted you knew that it was gonna take many weeks of allowance to save up for it!.... Took 25 years off from modelling :-(.... But now today you look and this kit is still standing on it's own... lol I may have to pick one up!!! Bring back some memories!

The paint and weathering is great. I won't say anything about the tires. Been said. I built one of these a couple of years ago. I enjoyed the build very much. What are you going to do with this one now?

Looks good Chip. I've built three of them since I began building models many moons ago. It's always been one of my favs.
NOW, I must tell you to be careful. If you say now that you have more important things to do than weathering up those tires, your next model could suffer the same consequence of a missed detail because it was deemed you had something more important to do on the next model.

Tuna, we must be of a similar age. I was given this kit as a gift MANY moons ago and never built it. I can remember though how excited everybody was when it first came out. I'm not sure but I seem to recall it costing around $20, and not "list" price is about $25. That's really not to bad considering inflation.
Chip, nice job. If you don't want to do the tires, and you like the job you've done, then that is all that matters.

Ok, I will be submissive. Since I am waiting a little while between things on my Tiger, I suppose that I could weather those damn Tires!
Any suggestions. Something simple, nothing hugle like mixing 40 million colors of paint and stuff.
How about a dry brushing of Dark Earth?

Looks good, Chip. Suggestion...If you're going to display it on the trucks, make sure your outriggers are up.
In answer to your question...drybrush some light earth color to give the effect of dust, since the rest of the gun is relatively clean, just enough to pick ip the raised detail.
