Hi Phil,
I think your tap looks very nice! As far as other things you can do to make tarps, tarp rolls, bed rolls, and the like, is use 2 part epoxy putty or tissue paper from gift bags. heres a link to a you tube video showing the same prosses i use to make a flat tarp cover. i think you will find it very helpful.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOJkUpDe90Qi buy gift bag tissue paper at hobby lobby, plain white. it takes some practice to get good results (for me anyway) so dont get frustrated to soon if you try it.

to make a tarp roll you get the amount of tissue paper you want and fold it over several times to the width you want. then begin to roll the tissue paper till you get the thikness you want then cut the excess off and fold the end you just cut over on to itself to hide the cut you just made. once you get the shape you want, round or slitely flatend, you use the dilluted white glue like you use for the camo mesh and brush on the glue. be careful not to tear the tissue paper after its wet with glue. when its fairly dry but still plyable, i use kite string and tie it to the roll close to each end. once dry i take the kite string of and make tiedown straps to replace the string. or you canleave the string on as a rope and paint it. Whew!!!

i hope that made some kind of sense.

if i wasnt clear and you have more questions than answers i apologize!
Hope that helps Phil.
