Hello guys

I am new on Armorama and I thought I will share my actual build. It is the latest Leopard 2 of the Swiss Army, called WE for Werterhaltung. It is the 2A4 Hobby Boss with bits from here and there. Please let me know what you think.

Have fun hunter

Hi Hunter!

I have a Dragon 1/72 Leopard 2A4 in the stash to be converted into a Pz87 WE so I'm very interested in your build.

Happy modelling! Patrick

Salut Beat

Welcome to the site! Looks great so far. Looking forward to more!

Are you using the new Euromodel conversoin bits? Is the Hobby Boss the currently best offer for a Swiss Leo?

Cheers!
Stefan

Hi Stefan

the stuff I use:
Hobby Boss Leopard 2a4
Tamiya Leopard 2a5
Voyager Leopard 2a5
EuroModel Silencers plus part for the barrel
Accurate Armour net and tins and many more small things
Perfect Scale Modellbau Leopard 2a4 update
Pro Art Models airial and skirts
Bronco Tracks for Leopard 2a4
RB Model Leopard 2 A1-A4 - 120mm Rh-M-120 L/44 Barrel

I was a gunner in the Leo 2 (old one) so I have all the books with details, called Reglement BS and BV, and many pictures.

If you have questions, just let me know.

Best Hunter

Hello Beat, this is a very interesting subject you are going to build. I plan to do the same and want to order the parts from EuroModell, too. They seem to be great. My problem is that there are only very few photos on the web which are showing details of the turret and the new commander's vision. It seems that it is similar to that used on the Leopard 2A5 and 2A6, but has a cover in the front which is Swiss detail only. Do you have detail photos of the Panzer 87 WE? Do you know if EuroModell will also release a turret update set? Many questions I know, but Leopard 2 with all his variants is a great subject. Please keep us updated on your build progress. Many thanks and cheers / Stephan

Hi Stephan

It is the 2a5 Peri, exactly the same, but there are quite many new things on the Leopard WE.

You can have some nice ideas about the WE on the RUAG homepage.

http://www.ruag.com/en/Defence/Land_Systems/Heavy_weapon_systems/Leopard_2_midlife_upgrade

Do not know about EuroModel but the two things are of great help.

Cheers Hunter

Hi Beat, impressive build. Congratulations! Would really appreciate to see the photos in high-res. They come so small and many great details remain guesswork. What did you use for the MG tubes on the turret side? That's some brass tube, right? Do you have scale drawings for the details? Seems you got all details right! Best regards / Stephan

Hi Stephan
Hi Walter

The MG tubes are Aber Aircraft Accessories 1:32 Armament for German Fighter. Nearly the right size, but I think it looks ok. I do not have scale drawings but I have some nice pictures from the real one. Actually you could find nice ones on google (search for pz 87 leo we).

I will ask my wife to help me with the pictures, she is the one for things like that

Hope I have time to do some more work....

Have a nice weekend... Cheers Hunter

Great job on the conversion. I particularly appreciate your Peri and its scratch protection.

I really like this version of the Leopard the best with it's flat mantlet/gun shield.

Too bad they don't make a resin upgrade for the 1/16 kit.

Yours is looking very nice with all the bling and AM.

HI Christopher

I know what you mean.... but we found it very funny to change the covers for the tracks... so the camo does not match on the tank... it will be a dirty tank in the end... after 3 weeks in Bure (our training area) the tanks were more brown than Nato camo.

I have funny pictures from our tanks... we liked to write things on your tanks... which i should not show in a forum

Cheers Hunter
