Hello to all.
I hope everyone remembers the civil war in Libya last year. News and newspapers were a lot of videos and pictures of the conflict. So one of the stars of the conflict were many vans equipped with weapons, typically a machine guns or rocket launcher added by the rebels.

So as a fan of soft skin I can not pass quietly without having to build such a model.
To find Model not so hard lately, because the Chinese manufacturer "MENG" produces two models of pickup trucks. There is another set of Rasin by MIG company. But the latter is too expensive and I have no experience working with Rasin. So I chose the MENG kit.
The model is in 1/35 scale. Is a 4x4 pickup Toyota HILUX 1997 armed with a anti-aircraft machine gun ZPU-1 .

the kit is looks nice.
First I begin with the flushing of the Body and all plastic tree parts with a toothbrush and water using teeth paste.

At this point I build the chassis included gearbox, exhaust, fuel tank, front and rear differential.
Gearbox, exhaust and brake discs painted in silver. (XF16 FLAT ALUMINUM)

End of the exhaust pipe came without a hole, using a small drill I made hole into exhaust pipe. (Drill 0.8MM)

for now that's all friends, to be continued...

Nice start...

The gun is "fun"! And the decals for an un-named brand of pick-up are fragile....

You can see some of my WiP's in progress on the Technical campaign or here: http://s213.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/35th-scale/Models/WIP/?action=view¤t=Pickup.jpg&newest=1

Good Luck

thanks Sean for your comment...

Strange to me that there no comments about the project but never mind, I continue to work ... Today I found free time to paint the "body". ofcause after assembly, it's very simple without any problems at all, it takes a few minutes.

The painting of a vehicle with three layers, without using primer. Painted with acrylic paint of Tamiya.
After clarification of one of Toyota's overseas forums, I realized that most popular colors of vans late 90's were metallic blue and metallic burgundy. So I went to the blue color ...
General color: Blue X13 Metalic

url=http://postimage.org/][/url]

Seems clear that the rebels don't kept their vehicles as I keep my car: lol :
So beatings should be fully captured and signs of repairs after accidents. So I made several "blows into the body" after I'll add in those places rust effects.

if we are Speaking about signs of repairs after the accident, then our truck hood replaced. : D
Hood dismantling another truck belonging to other color:

I thought if it was damaged and replaced hood, maybe we will replace one of the wings:?:?:?
What do you say? Painted in the other color or another wing it Be exaggerated?

so waiting for your comments
have a nice weekend [

It is coming along nicely. It shoudl be interesting with the different colored body panels. I look forward to seeing hw that and the dents and dings look.

A couple things that are probably due to the language differences. First, it isn't a van, it is a crew-cab pickup truck. What you call a wing is usually called a fender in the west.

Either way, I knew what you meant and I am looking forward to seeing how it comes out. I too have this kit and will be following yours.

Nice work so far Richard- I think the two colors will contrast nicely. I think a 'wing' in the burgundy color would be a good idea, it will add some more interest. Good luck with the build.

What's the problem to use the same weapon on your model?

Can somebody tell what is written there, by the way?

Good evening friends,
Another small step in my project. I noticed on some pictures of the conflict in Libya, and found articles in Arabic on the pickups, made on individualy by the rebels.

So I make the articles on my truck, I tried to move the signs of a leak of paint.
I did well in the first phase of Chipping on the rear trunk. "body" is still before the "WASH"

The wheel covers (hubcaps) are just that.... not chrome silver but should be a matte silver. there is a steel wheel; like the spare in most cars. Over time this will peel and flake off and the bare plastic underneath is a yellow color.

Your model really does look super. I like the graffiti and the replacement parts too. I can't wait to see how you weather it.

Some black oil paint mixed with gloss varnish should produce a similar effect. Remember to experiment with it first to make sure you don't ruin your model!
