Hi Eggman,

Some very interesting vehicles you've found. I did recognise the fourth one as the New Zealand 'Bob Semple' tank.

Bob Semple Tank

But the rest are just astounding.

Thanks for sharing. These last two pics are of the Pz III mit Schachtellaufwerk. A prototype using large interleaved wheels. IIRC its a Daimler Benz project, sometimes referred to as ZW40. Built in the 1940s, and planned to replace the current Pz IIIs, but was later dropped. References I've read don't seem to agree on how many were built though. After testing, the prototype(s?) were used for training. Most pics I've seen depict this scene. Cheers

Interesting: heres' my 8c worth...

1 & 2 psot WW1 era US Infantry/(Marines?) training Vehicles.
3 -?
4, Yes John Ashby, a Bob Semple Tank from Australia.
5 -?
6 Looks like a Russian T34-76 with a look-a-like Tiger 'body' pack' possibly for training?
7 A WW2 era 3in/90mm Gun Carrier, US prototype. One for Gino/Redleg?
8 -Looks US, post WW1 trench crosser/mobile pillbox?
9 Skeleton tank, experimental prototype tank built in 1918 by the Pioneer Tractor Company, Winona, Minnesota.
10 Modern paper panzer?
11 As 1&2, Armoured landship, looks like it's based on the British Triton Land-Tractor
12/13 German WW2 winter assault sledge, no idea if used in combat, taken in the Alps(?) Looks like fun?

The Track looks like a LUCHS, but could be big-wheel PzKw11 or 111, someone correct me please!

EDIT: Simon & Tat beat me to it!

Here are couple of links identifying some from Eggman's list:

Thanks for the links, Tat! Between part 1 and part 2 of your first link, it has info on almost every one of the tanks posted. Plus more I've never seen.

Very obvious fake, no room for crew & transmission wouldn't work with a 37mm barrel through it...

Hi all,

Picture #8 (http://i8.aijaa.com/b/00931/9652841.jpg) shows a Burstyn Motorgeschütz (Burstyn tank). The Burstyn tank was a small tank with subsidiary wheels on long legs which were supposed to give it trench crossing possibilities. The tank was developed back in 1911 by Günther Burstyn, a pioneer officer in the Austro-Hungarian army. It never evolved further than the paper stage.

For references, see
http://www.doppeladler.com/kuk/burstyn.htm (German only)

Picture #2 - The mock-up of a tank based on C.L.Best Tracklayer model 75 designed by C. L. Best Tractor Company. All photos were made during the maneuvers with California National Guard in 1917(?). Since nobody got interested the actual "real" tank was never build.

Picture #6 - experimental T-34 (1943). During WWII Soviets were experimenting with composite armor (steel and concrete) for Navy ships and tanks. This is one of the experiments. The idea eventually was abandoned.

Apparently Germans were experimenting with concrete armor too

While the first post was interesting now it became a little bit annoying - IMHO.

#1 is the Russian design, called Vezdekhod - http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8c/Vezdekhod_diagram.jpg
The rest of them are either experimental versions, or normal production vehicles. You can easy find what is what if you post those images into the google image search. BTW, #4 is a Photoshop, and a very bad one.
