I know I'm a little lazy with keeping all my build logs updated but to compensate for that I decided to deliver some fresh off the shelf eye candy for yall...
it's the Tamiya M1025 kit with perfect scale's S250 shelter conversion. it's the old presentation model built by Gerold Betzler of PSM when the kit first came out. it's seen a lot of wear and tear on shows and thus really suffered (note the missing steering wheel, no decals left etc). So I decided to give it some fresh color in order to make it look more appealing...
Base painting was done by Chris Noone, so basically I'm just responsible for the weathering, anyways, I repainted the shelter as I wanted to try out some color modulation so it'd look more dynamic in some way.
The whole thing is painted with Tamiya colors and weathered with a variety of oils, enamels and pigments which (of course) came from the usual suspects...
I'd like to thank Gerold and Chris for passing this nice little kit on to me and thus providing me a chance to gather some practice with this (at least for me) quite unusual subject.
here are some comparison shots showing the different colors achieved by using different weathering techniques (base colors are mostly the same. just different technical approaches, giving each of my models it's very own look...)
here a comparison shot of the carc sand color, it's the same color and the same shades of highlights and shadows. note how much darker the finished piece looks (still not too dark IMO)
I've finished this one just in time for this weekend's show in Schleißheim, near Munich where it'll be displayed, that's btw the reason why I have not attached the doors yet, still need to get that thang transported...
Hope you'll like it. if you have comments (esp. critique) or questions feel free to place 'em here..
Cheers, Max
