Hi
I think this smart move by Bronco will win it much deserved praise and no doubt add to peoples commitment to buying their products.
Although described as an upgrade and you point out the retooling cost would be high, I think the turret is aimed at all those who brought the first kit rendition . I believe looking at the poster recently featured by Darren in the news section the "British Version" kit shows this revised turret item as an integral part of the new release. I can't zoom in to be 100% but it looks like it from the poster image I can see here.

Yes, I think you're correct in that

...they must have read the Armorama thread
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/186020&page=1
Anyway they show to pay enough attention to the modeller observations, and that's a good thing

WOW!
I waited the AFV Club's kit since i wants to build a pair of Chaffee in Indochina but this upgraded set change my mind.
Bronco acts like a great producer it need to be thanks: i'll buy one of their Chaffee (i need to see which one of their 2 versions is the best base for a French Tank).
really great news, many thanks Bronco if you're reading these lines.

Do I undertand this properly as an injected-molded upgrade by Bronco to correct problems from an earlier release? If more manufacturers did this, it would increase their credibility and sales, instead of leaving it to the aftermarket to correct things.

The 25pdr cover will be handy, I hadn't gotten around to making one yet so that should save some time.

So you will need to pay or you will exchange your old turret ?
This new turret will be included in their new batch
Great great custom service
So HB are you going to fix the Merkava and CV90 chassis??
So trumpeter are you going to release the interior set for the Stryker as new set??
So Tamiya are you going to release the Enigma as a free standing kit??
Yes you can do it, see Bronco

Photos of the French tanks show lots of variations within the builds. You really have to pick a photo out and try and match features. There is no "set" way to setup an IndoChina M24.

While I agree on the Markava, I´d like to ask what´s wrong with the CV90 chassis? Haven´t heard anything yet...

Nice to see the new turret. Unfortunately, having built mine, I would need the full turret replacement, but I am glad they were so quick to address this issue.

Any idea on the cost of the update to the turret? Curious as I am working on the Italeri Chaffee right now. Nice kit, but I hear (would also guess) that the new Bronco kit is really much nicer.

Hi Jim,
Great news on that Chaffee turret! Can you ask them if there will be a FREE exchange service for those who have bought the incorrect first edition?

Tom
I've just had an e-mail from the company and, due to the costs involved in postage and packing, they can't give the replacement turret free.
What they ARE doing is keeping the cost as low as possible which means that it'll be a pretty cheap fix.
Now this last part is VERY important:
ONLY THE FIRST PRODUCTION OF THE CHAFFEE WENT OUT WITH THE INCORRECT TURRET; ALL PRODUCTION KITS FROM FEBRUARY 1st WENT OUR WITH THE CORRECTED TURRET
Hope this helps!

Thanks Jim, but it's still cold comfort to me. Exactly how cheap? I appreciate that it costs them money to fix, but I resent that it adds a hidden extra cost to me the customer. Now I have to track one down (not everyone will feel the need to stock them!) and pay for the part plus postage. It's the whole A13 Mk.I Cruiser tracks saga all over again - they came out with decent indy-links for all the subsequent versions, but if (like me!) you were fool enough to buy the initial kit at £30 you then had to shell out another £10 + £5 postage to get tracks that would actually fit. Just as with that kit, I wish now that I'd held off on the Chaffee...
And to think that for a small-ish outlay to replace these defective parts they could have garnered a ton of good-will. Instead it looks like they are throwing their reputation away for a few pence.
Now, I know there are no "perfect" kits, and we all willingly snap up and re-work kits with much bigger flaws, but it galls me when a company (who should know better) release a flawed first run and then an "aftermarket upgrade" almost before the base kit has hit the shelves! It's not like they weren't going to fix the flaw - they quickly altered the second release to deal with it...

Jim,
Is the part going to be available directly through Bronco, or will it be something that has to be ordered through normal retail chains?

Looks like DragonUSA.com cockup on my Chaffee preorder will actually work out to my advantage this time! I got my order confirmation yesterday (along with the Bronco Buffalo) from them....so I should have the corrected turret.

Tom I cannot agree as Bronco had no requirement to produce a new turret with a corrected profile, they have produced one for a new kit and included it in the older kit as well as making it available to everyone who wants one. Most companies would not have even bothered with the possible exception of DML and as such I see no reason why the product should be free.

I have just taken this Quote off another site and think they are trying to please. we just offer the CB35069SP revised M-24 turret parts for CB35069 US M-24 charge at cost only! We hope the modellers can understand this just a cost return for packing & plactic material. Please inform the modeller to check their kit turret detail carefully is it the old one? Because our CB35069 production had changed to the newly turret parts already since on 1st Feburary 2012. I think this is the first time somthing like this has been done by a major manufacturer
