This Panther never saw action in WWII. It was built after the war from surplus factory parts for the British Army in 1946 for automotive evaluation. The Jagdpanther was also built for the British Army under the same program.
The gun should be 100% functional as it was built to be a fully operational Panther tank for the British Army. The gun was never disabled by draining the buffer fluid in the recuperator and fired, that was a war time practice since it wasn't used in action during the war.
The British Army returned the Panther to German ownership in the 1980's I believe. It was restored, complete with a faux Infra-Red scope and re-zimmerited using the original Maybach engine. There is no diesel engine in this one.
