Cape Glouchester provided a few "firsts" for the marines. It was the first use of the M1 Garand as an issue rifle, and the first time Marines used an M4 medium tank in an invasion. These were M4A1's acquired from the US Army in Australia.

I finally got the opportunity, with this project, to build a Tasca Sherman. Or should I say I watched as it built itself?
Wonderful kit it was.

I used Tamiya paint, AFV Club T49 tracks, and scratched the tool straps from copy paper and thin wire.

Nice one G! A very clean build to say the least. The TC is a little out of focus in all your shots but judging by the driver, looks like an excellent job on your figs as well.

Tick the box on another one done! So...I count 4 Shermans you've completed in the time it's taken me to plow through one? Must be the dry desert air and warm weather that helps you build faster...

Cheers!

Professor it's that "dry heat". Builds are ready before you know it!

RF, the only AM part is the tow cable, and I made that myself from copper wire. I placed three strands into cordless drill and twisted away!

Wayne,

Great work on this Cape Gloucester Marine M4A1. The camo work is really nice and the tracks are outstanding.
Unfortunately, your pictures are underexposed. I am sure your M4A1 would look even better with a bit more light. Also, your Depth of Field is a bit off i.e blurring near the edges of the photo left, right and top. What kind of camera are you using if I may ask.

Awesome job though the colours are spot on.

Thank you all for the positive comments. While to me she looks way to clean, I just cannot bring myself to weather something not on a base of some sort. It just looks out of context if you know what I mean.

Professor,I think I had the cursor on the front fender so it focused there and left the TC blurry. I looked at the respective dates and concluded I have built 5 Shermans since you started. Keep in mind things dry quickly out here.

Dave, I took those with my 7 year old Fuji Digi camera. It was set on macro and placed on a tripod. I had no auxiliary light source, so they did come out way too dark. The flash always overpowers the subject at this distance.

DJ That's just plain old Tamiya OD, lightened with buff. The camo is Tamiya Red Brown. I thinned them with generic laquer thinner and sprayed at a low PSI. I free handed the red brown pattern, then went back with a brush to sharpen the edges.
