Hi people !

First of all, sorry about my english, it's not so good.

Them, let's talk about the model:

I'm not a super detailer I just like to build and paint the kit.

I started this Dana some time ago and the first thing I have done was the cabin interior:

Hi people !

After close the front cabin (and yes John, the paint work inside will be hidden) I finished the assembly of the kit. It is very good, with no fit problems.

The only thing I'll add is some cabling in the engine. Please look:

Tomorrow I will talk about paint work. I really want to know what you think.

Thank you for view.

Hi people !

Let’s talk about paint work.

First I used a black automotive acrylic primer. Then, I started painting using a really dark OD made by myself with automotive nitrocellulose paint (black + yellow + a bit of red) in a cloud pattern.

I lightened this same color using yellow and white, applying another clouds and repeat the process using a bit more white to obtain a lighter OD.

The automotive paint is naturally bright, so I do not need to use any varnish before applying the decals.
Please, look the pics:

What do you think ?

Hi people !

After apply the decals, three coats of the great Vallejo flat varnish and the model is ready to some filter (I prefer use only filter, no wash), dry brush with Testors faded OD and Humbrol 187.

Then I started to paint details like tools, lights and engine. Please, look the photos:

To Frazer: Thanks man ! Portuguese is really hard to learn. Many rules...

To John: Thanks. I made the rust efects using burnt siena oil paint and some turpentine. I know that this beast in this color problaby never saw combat, but I really like paint the kits this way. Obrigado ! Grande Abraço !

Hi Marco
very great job! I hope to paint my Leopard just as well that your model (but I'm still very far from this goal).
If I can afford to give you some advice, I suggest you replace the tires in rubber with the same in resin because, for our personal experience, after a while they collapse and melt, especially if they are painted or close to parts of the model painted with paints based solvents such as turpentine, White Spirit or solvent for varnishes such as Enamel.
Greetings - Gianfranco

Hi Gianfranco !

I'm really glad that you are seeing my post. And even more to know that you are ok.

You have great skills that I don't. You Leo is amazing.

About the tires, the only one that really brings me problems are those from Zvezda. They are terrible.

I have some kits whit original tires that never show any problems (Tamiya's M26 and FAMO, Trumpeter’s Faun Elephant and Strikers etc.)

I never use any enamel paint to "dust" tires, only Vallejo or Tamiya.

BTW, thanks for the advise, they never be enough.

Cheers !

Hi Rob !

Thanks !

It is a really good model, I saw no problems during the work. My great motivation was a superb article wrote by Marcus Nichols in MMI #002, where he assembled one of this OOB in Lybian colors. The result was fantastic and I started mine this day.

I hope I can motivate other modelers.

Cheers !

Thanks Frazer !

I probably let leave it free standing, just because I do not know how to do bases. I do not have the skills.

The only model that I have made base was my Faun Elefant. I used a piece of black sand paper to imitate a german road pavement and painted the stripes using mask and white paint. Then I done a heavy dry brush using various shades of gray.

That is so far I can go . Look:

Cheers !

Very good job on your Dana, it turned out much better than mine! Looks like they fixed the big issue I had , the stabalizer legs were different sizes on mine. The paint and weathering look very good.

Love the FAMO- it's been on my wish list !

Thanks Jeff !

About the DANA: To get the stabilization legs in road position I just cute the hydraulic piston and fixed the lower part directly to cylinder. I did it on the three legs.

About the FAUN: It is a fantastic model. No problems during work. I hope that you get your soon. You will do a great work.

Cheers !
